This is a new book by Sonja Hakala and it will be available April 17 I believe. It has interesting, some funny, some unusual stories submitted by quilters. I happen to have a story in the book. You can click the picture and get to the link on Amazon for ordering the book.
My story is on my blog and it’s entitled “Opportunities Come in the Strangest Places“. Many of you have read it but if you haven’t please read it. It still makes me cry just thinking of how it all came to happen.

I just read your story. It makes me cry too! What a generous quilter you are to share your quilts with such wonderful children!
I just read your story too. You’re right. Sometimes you have to believe you’ve seen (or in your case was used in) a miracle. Thinking that your names were the same sends shivers up my spine. How wonderful to know that God used you!
That is really amazing. “Someone” somewhere was orchestrating that. Maybe it was mums way of making sure her children got the quilts she would have made them if she’d still been here.
How wonderful to be a part of it.
I knew the story and still got chills reading it. I’m a firm believer in things happening for a reason. Thank you, Judy, for sharing this with us, and for making quilts for those babies. Even though they will never know who made the quilts for them, you will always hold a special place in their hearts. And in ours!
I’ve read the story before but forgot about it so I went back and re-read it. It’s an amazing story, that’s all I can say. Wow…
God is the all-seeing eye who knows all and He chose you to bless these hurting children. How truly special this was. I’m so glad that you shared it on your blog and now it’s in the book. I hope to get a copy of that book too along with your new book of patterns.
I have read your story, over and over. You have such a deep inner place in you, Judy, for connecting with others’ hearts and you share blessings with your quilts in all ways. It is a lovely, lovely story. We all need to remember why we truly quilt and how intricately it connects us with others. Thank you for reminding us all of this again!
That is an amazing and touchingly poignant story. Yes, you were meant to connect! There are no coincidences, thanks for sharing your story and your quilts straight from your heart!
That does sound like a great book. I’ve read stories about quilters from older times, but nice that there is a more modern version. Off to read your story!
