Goodbye Eggs!

April 19, 2007

I save everything! As I unpack, I continue to find funny little things that I stuck in a drawer, or in a box. This incident wasn’t so funny when it happened but it’s funny now. It was probably 4 years ago . . Chad would have been about 15. He wanted to make cookies and I really didn’t want to clean up his mess. Despite his promises to clean, his idea of cleaning the kitchen and my idea of cleaning the kitchen are never quite the same.

In my efforts to discourage him, I realized that I only had 4 eggs and I needed 2 of them the next morning. Not a problem, his recipe only needed 2 eggs . . which would have been fine but he managed to drop not 1 but 2 eggs!

I was really aggravated with him because he had the cookie dough all mixed up and of course, at that point, the only thing to do was to use the last 2 eggs so that I had to go to the store before morning.

He wrote this letter:

Dear Eggs,

I am sorry I dumped you down the sink ending your already not started life but still, you went through the food processor (I think he meant garbage disposal) and did not do much good to my cookies.

You just ticked off mom and left her with no eggs. But yet I am sorry I will never see you again but you will be food still to some little animal down the drain.

Sorry,

Chad

That boy can be so funny sometimes!

I save everything too – this brings back memories of Adam in my kitchen. Who knew cooking would be his calling and that he’d be teaching me new things in the kitchen? I miss cooking with him!

very cute. I was reminded of my little brother at about age 3 standing in the kitchen going thru nearly a whole dozen eggs just purchased. He was taking each egg one by one and dropping them on the floor. He thought it was delightful fun, but mom didn’t

What a wonderful find! I was chuckling reading it – and imagining his smiling while he was writing it!
