Wavy Borders

June 29th, 2007 · 10 Comments

As a longarm quilter, the thing I hate most are wavy borders. I never understand why people don’t take a bit of extra time, measure the borders, pin them and make them fit correctly instead of just slapping the strips down, sewing and hoping for the best.
Well . . guess what I did? [...]

Building an Ark . . almost

June 29th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Chad has been talking about building a canoe. He comes up with some funny ideas. He and his friend, Jason, took the plunge and started the canoe over the weekend. Here’s their progress so far. It surprised the heck out of me how good it looks. It’s 9′4″ long and [...]

Back Home

June 29th, 2007 · 11 Comments

I arrived back home Wednesday night. The drive back wasn’t bad at all — just long! I was worried about a section of 271 south of Paris, TX where there are flood gauges along the highway, which makes me think that area floods but it was not flooded and I was able to [...]

June 21st, 2007 · 9 Comments

Mom was showing me all of the tops she has started and I thought this one reminded me of some that Mary has shown lately. Mom still has to finish doing the applique flowers/vine down the white strips but she’ll be done with it soon I’m sure.
This evening was another favorite meal. Popeyes [...]

Almost Finished Posies

June 20th, 2007 · 16 Comments

Today I got all the blocks sewn together in rows, and all the rows sewn together with the sashing, and everything sewn together except the outer borders. I brought the floral fabric to use for the outer border but decided it needs a narrow red border before I add the floral border. I [...]

First Full Day in Louisiana

June 19th, 2007 · 12 Comments

I made it to Louisiana. Left MO about 6:45 Monday morning, stopped 3 times for gas and bathroom breaks, drove through McDonald’s somewhere in TX and made it to mom and dad’s at 6:45 Monday evening. Twelve hours on the road is a long time!
My first night in Louisiana and look what we [...]
