I suppose it wouldn’t matter if I had a design wall the size of Texas. I’m a starter and while I mostly sometimes finish things I start, if I had a bigger design wall, I’d just have more projects on it.
The little nine patches way up in the corner have been there for months. I’m going to finish that one day too. That’s not all I’ve done on it but I leave those out to remind me to get back to it one day.
The big project on the top left has been shown before. I haven’t done anything on it since I last showed it to you but I had to move it over on the design wall a bit to make room for a new project.
But the new project – the bright squares – that’s a top I’m making as a comfort quilt for a lady having some medical problems. It’s totally from the stash! One of my online groups is making a larger quilt for her sister who is helping to care for her. This pattern was the cover design for McCall’s Quilting, August, 07 issue and is so quick and fun to make. I’m kinda waiting for my friends in the online group to tell me if it’s too bright. Not sure what I’ll do if they think it is too bright. I was thinking she needed something cheerful and bright and besides, that’s about all that’s in my stash — BRIGHTS!

No, it’s not too bright, the colour intensity is beautiful. I don’t have brights in my stash, and so I don’t work with them, but I can appreciate them when I see them. Yours don’t need watering down, they’re great as is.
Not to bright for my book. I think someone suffering from medical conditions might need something to brighten her day and give her a smile. Keep it as is, she will enjoy it.
I don’t think they’re too bright either. I must have missed seeing that issue. I’ve let all my subscriptions lapse except QNM but I look at them all when I go to B&N which is about 1-2 times a week.
No, I think it’s perfect. Not too bright at all!
I don’t think it is too bright either. I might have to go pick up that magazine. I like the pattern!
I had a whole day of Sunday sewing planned. Yesterday, I cooked enough for two days so I could have time to myself. I got well underway with that border (btw, you directions helped me so much! You are a life saver!) while the boys were watching a Scooby Doo marathon.
My nephew calls to say he is in town and would like to stop by. I haven’t seen him in several months, so I couldn’t pass it up. Though I was a little irritated I had to cut my Sunday sewing short. Grrr! Oh well, I will try again tomorrow afternoon.
I love the brights, too.
I don’t think it’s too bright…it’s HAPPY!
Looks like a real happy, pick-me-up quilt. Not too bright at all.
I don’t think it’s too bright either….it’s cheerful.
My goodness, Judy, I’ve just caught up with your blog, and you really are a prolific quilter! No surprise to me or any of your other readers, I’m sure, but seeing so many beautiful quilts over the course of just a couple posts really brings that thought home! No, I don’t think your current project is too bright–to me, it simply looks cheerful and I’m sure that’s what’s needed.
I like the brights! It looks wonderful, not too out there at all.
I think the brights are perfect. I love it.
Hugs,
Melinda
P.S. Don’t know if I’ve told you this, but I have the star quilt you made for my mom.
Too bright!?? Never! It looks cheerful and fun. Sure to make her day brighter.
Looks just perfect. I have a question about how to do something in EQ6 that I would like to email to you…would you mind giving me tips? I know you use it a lot more than me!
I always grab bright fabrics and still say I like traditional. It must be that brights really are my favorite, because I love it!
I think the colors are wonderful and the quilt will be, too. You can’t look at it and not feel at least a wave of happiness.
I think the bright colors would be cheery too! They say they stimulate babies so maybe it will stimulate her to feel better :O)…
If I had medical problems and needed comfort that quilt would be perfect in my eyes… not too bright, just right! Well done, Judy!
never too bright!
and I’ll be in Nashville Thurs-Sat. I’d love to meet you in person!

It should be dreary and somber so she can reflect on her miseries? It is gorgeous, makes me wonder if I should re-up my sub, it is one of my favorite q-magazines. I particularly like the little splashes of lime green, that is a happy color.
I really like it a lot. I think bright colors are more cheery and happy. I think I might just have to do that one too!! Oh so many projects and oh so little time!!

Love the bright and cheery blocks – perfect
Not too bright at all – absolutely perfect! It says “happy, happy, happy” – which is just what is called for in this instance.
(I know – way too late to help – but it’s your turn for my catch-up reading).
