OK .. those who know me, stop laughing! My husband has to be having a horrible day so I’ve spent the afternoon trying to be helpful. I’m telling you all this so you can pat me on the back because poor Vince will not even notice.
The day started off as usual. Oh, except yesterday the freezer was delivered because the meat was going to be here today. I figured that as soon as Vince got home from work, we would run out and pick up the meat, then he’d still have time for his wood carvers group.
If that doesn’t look like an upright freezer to you, you’re right! The one we wanted had to be ordered and didn’t arrive in time. This is the biggest chest freezer they make and let me tell you . . it is BIG! I’ll be very happy to get mine here and send this one back. It’s brand new and very nice though. And, I’m very, very thankful to Mr. Ring for sending me a loaner because it was ME who waited til the last minute to get the freezer ordered. I knew he didn’t have one in stock and time kinda slipped away from me.
So, I had a haircut appointment at 10. Before I left, I browned steak and left it simmering to make steak, gravy and rice for dinner tonight. I got finished getting my haircut and when I went outside, sirens were everywhere. I drove 2 blocks to the main road and I met ambulances, firetrucks, police cars .. oh, please don’t let something have happened at Vince’s work. I knew it wasn’t any ordinary fender bender getting this much attention. Yep, it was Vince’s work and Vince is the EHS (environmental, health and safety) guy. Not good.
About that grass I’d been asking to have cut . .
About those shrubs needing trimmed . .
Oops . . maybe these didn’t need quite such a close trimming.
Oh, well, maybe Vince won’t look that far down and after the day he’s had, what’s a few ugly shrubs?
Then I decided to run get a bale of straw and some pumpkins. I probably should’ve waited til I had the pickup to go get the straw!
And, look at these mums. Don’t they look artificial? They’re so pretty!
And, I commandeered Chad to help me get the meat so Vince doesn’t have to do that. I’ve cut the grass, trimmed the shrubs, edged the driveway and sidewalk, and picked up the meat. That’s about all I can do to make his burden a bit lighter on this bad day. And, if all else fails, a bottle of his favorite wine is chilling. And, I added fried eggplant to the menu. That should make him happy!

I’d say that’s a pretty good wife, Judy! I hope he does notice.
I am sure that he will notice, if not today, then later after he has a chance to catch his breath. Now aren’t you glad that you didn’t take that job. LOL Being a good wife and mother is the most important and fulfilling job you will ever have. IMHO
Wow….I think you might just deserve the “Wife of the Year” Award! You go girl! LOL
How about Wife of the Century! And somewhere in the spare minutes of your day, you probably designed some award-winning quilts! I want to know what brand of vitamins you take!! Your pumpkins and hay arrangement is beautiful!
Jeez, you’re in the running for saint in my book! If he doesn’notice you need to bop him on the head like the V-8 commercial!! Where do you find all that energy, much less the time to do all you do?? I get tired just reading about it! lol
OMG – what a wonderful wife you are! Here’s hoping that he notices everything you’ve done …. it might not be right away, but I’m sure he’ll notice when the time is right.
and…….. what happened at Vince’s work? Did the place burn down? Was it major or minor? More important is Vince OK?
LOL Judy, what are taking, I need some!! Of course you are the perfect wife!!
It’s nice to give them a reminder of why they love us so much. (I occasionally make DHs favorite cake or pick up his favorite BR ice cream just because.) You deserve the “Because Nice Matters” award!
Judy sorry about Vince’s workplace. Iam sure you and Chad made things better for him when he came home. the meal sounded great. the house flowers, wow. You deserve a huge well kiss? or how about shopping spree for fabric?
I officially pronounce you “Judy Goodwife”
He might not notice each thing by itself, but I am postive that he notices that he is coming home to a wonderful wife!!! After a hard/stressful day at work I am sure he really loves coming home to home’s haven that you have so lovingly created.
Cheers!
