Shopped Til We Dropped

November 16, 2007

Is there anyone out there in Blogland who doesn’t know that I hate shopping? Well, I do not like it at all. Today I spent the entire day shopping. Ughhh! But, I do not plan to go to Joplin . . nowhere near the mall, nowhere near Target .. not even to our local Wal-Mart until after Christmas. Today I bought everything I think we could possibly need til mid-January. We’re stuffed to the gills with things like paper towels, napkins, dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, toilet paper and of course, Dr. Pepper . . there’s nothing we’ll need and if we determine that we need something, we’re either doing without or Vince or Chad can go get it. Not Judy!!

Chad had a doctor’s appointment in Joplin at 9:30 this morning so we left home at 8. He was finished at the doctor by 9:50 and we hit the streets. Stopped first at Panera Bread. Oh, we love that store! From there, we went to Hobby Lobby where I bought the greenery to make wreaths to go on the garage and my front door. I had the lady in floral make some gorgeous bows for decorations. Bought a few Christmas decorations there.

Then we went to eat at Carino’s. We always enjoy eating there because we can get fried calamari for an appetizer!

From there, we went to T. J. Maxx. There’s a new one in Joplin and honestly, I liked the one in Owensboro a whole lot better. It’s much bigger than the one in Joplin. By the time we were finished there, I was so ready to come home. But, there was more shopping to be done.

Next stop was out into the mall. Being the non-shopper that I am, a trip through the mall rates right up there with sitting through a movie at the theater — not a fun experience for me. Chad wanted new shoes. That young man loves shoes more than any woman I’ve ever known and there was a time when I would have given up most anything for shoes. He found three pairs that he liked and I got them all and they’ll be wrapped and put under the tree. Big surprise on Christmas morning! In fact, everything we bought for Chad today goes under the tree and he was right there with me when I bought it all. He ended up with 2 CD’s, 2 DVD’s, 2 pairs of dress pants and 2 kinds of cologne. There might have been more but that’s all I can remember. I got a few things for Vince too but just in case he reads this, I’m not going to say what I bought him.

Then we went to Kohl’s and then to Target and then we came home.

The best buy of the day:

Vince and I have had this ongoing controversy for 10 years. I leave the butter out so it’s soft and he is sure I’m going to die from some dreaded disease from the butter sitting out. Do you leave yours out or keep it in the fridge? Understand that a stick of butter never lasts more than a couple of days around here. I had an old plastic butter dish and I tossed it when we moved. I’d been looking online for a new one and I wanted a green one. Once I found one of those old avocado green Tupperware dishes on ebay but didn’t get it. This one is Le Creuset and was the only one I saw in T J Maxx. How lucky was I to stumble across this green one?

Oh, about that butter controversy . . we decided there’s always butter in the fridge and Vince can use that and I’ll risk dying of whatever I might contract in order to have soft butter.

Chad and I arrived home about 7:00 p.m. and that was a full day of torture shopping.
