Through a Child’s Eyes

Yesterday when I left Ontario, it was cloudy and drizzling rain. Almost as soon as we took off, we climbed up above the clouds and it was beautiful to see the clouds below us. I was sitting next to a window and a little girl about 6 years old was sitting in the window seat in front of me. She had her little face glued to the window and even when she was talking to her mom seated next to her, I could hear her clearly. The little girl was a bit confused about the site outside and her mom explained to her that we were flying above the clouds. The little girl sat there and stared out the window for several minutes, looking very intently. I thought maybe she was trying to see her own home through the few breaks in the clouds. Then she excitedly said to her mom “Mom, can you please help me find God?”

She thought since we were above the clouds, we must surely be in heaven. I didn’t hear her mom’s full explanation but it was so touching for me to get a glimpse of the world through a child’s eyes . . even if only for a second.

    Hi Judy
One of the best parts of being a kindergarten teacher ( my day job since 1985) is getting regular glimpses of the world through the eyes of 4 and 5 year olds. They believe that they can do anything, be anything and can find wonder in the smallest things- that love and joy about life feeds my energy. Thanks for sharing your a beautiful story with some wonderful photos. It brightened my day.
Regards from a Western Canadian Quilter,
    Anna

What a lovely story, and how wonderful that a child could have that thought. It seems so rare these days. I would also have loved to hear what her mother had to say.
