Done and Ready for Quiltathon

Front of Betty\'s Quilt

This is the quilt I’ve been working on for the past week. My friend, Betty, has The Village Mercantile in Boonville, Indiana, which was my local quilt shop when I lived in Kentucky. The Village Mercantile is such a neat shop. The shop hop for their area (southern Indiana) is June 21 – 28 and here’s the website for the shop hop. If you’re in that area, or can get to that area, you might want to check out the shop hop.

Anyway, I quilted Betty’s quilt. The them is Sunflower Summer. You can contact Betty if you might be interested in a kit for this quilt. The quilt is just beautiful. I so much miss not seeing all the new fabrics. I always feel bad when I say I like the back better than the front but I only mean that in the sense that the quilting shows up on the back and hardly shows up on the front at all.

Here’s the back of Betty’s quilt. I was determined to do this quilt without feathers but I just couldn’t do it. The green strips around the blocks begged for feathers.

And, here’s a closer shot of the back side. I hope Betty likes it. I still have it here and she hasn’t seen it yet but I have her permission to post photos.

And now . . the major huge, heavily quilted top is done and I’m free to do what I want to do for two days because . . IT’S TIME FOR A QUILTATHON!

hey lookie here – I’m first!

Oh Judy, thanks for sharing such a beautiful sampler quilt with us! I really like the colors and the sunflower thems sounds so pretty!

I’ve never been to a shop hop before but have heard that they are lots of fun! Our local shops do them in the summer each year – but last year I was busy having hte babies… can you believe that they turn ONE YEAR OLD tomorrow!!!?? 😉

    Love from Texas! ~bonnie

Very nice quilt. And whats wrong with feathers??? I’d rather do feathers then ruler work. Anyway, I believe in the addage that: “they pay to have both sides quilted, so both sides should look good”….. Enjoy the next days!!!

Wow…that quilting is wonderful! It was a lot of work so you are due to ‘play’ with your own stuff for a change! Happy quilting!

The quilt is gorgeous. I was at Betty’s (aka Village Mercantile) on Thursday. She wasn’t there, but the shop was bursting at the seams with fabrics, kits, and much more. She is getting ready for the shop hop. There was even a lady there updating the website for her. She said it would be “up” soon, so keep checking it!

Our Guild is hosting a 25th Anniversary Quilt Show on June 27 and June 28. Right now it is planned for the Executive Inn, but if someone doesn’t buy it by 3:00 today, it closes. If that does happen, the Science Museum will let us use their facilities. We are so grateful to them for their genorosity, concern, and love for our community.

As soon as I find where we are going to have it, t I will let you know.
