Day 2 Quiltathon Report

You can add your second link to the link box below if you’d like.

I got more blocks made on the green and pink quilt.  I think I have a total of 28 made now and I need 35.  The borders are all made already so I should be able to finish the top tomorrow.

I never did get started quilting on Keaton’s top, even though it’s loaded on the machine and won’t take an hour to quilt.

Chad worked all day so when he came home for lunch, I sat and talked with him; a blog reader had sent me a box of herbs and my bed isn’t ready yet so I planted them in pots til I can get them in the ground; spent too much time holding and petting the baby chickens . . they’re so cute; after dinner Vince decided he wanted a cake . . didn’t I just make him a blackberry cobbler?  So, I made a cake — yellow cake with buttercream icing.  Just what we needed.

The April Quiltathon will be April 18 & 19.  Start making plans to play along with us.

Snip, Snip

Having nice, sharp scissors and cutters is so important for sewing.  Vince and Chad are really good about not touching my sewing scissors.  My favorite scissors through the years has been Gingher Scissors.  I’m not even sure how many pairs I have or why I have so many but my favorite pair is a pair I never use.

These were scissors I gave to my grandmother at least 20 years ago.  When she passed away or quit sewing, mom gave the scissors back to me.  I keep the box and the scissors in my sewing drawer but I don’t use them at all.  Don’t know why . . I just feel like I should save them since they were my grandma’s.  I wonder what she cut with them.  I can tell that she used them, but probably not much.

Did you know that you can send your Gingher scissors back to be sharpened and repaired?  Info is here.  It’s $7.50 and that includes return shipping to you.  It’s been years since I sent any back but they are returned just like new!

There are lots of brands of scissors and I’m sure many are partial to other brands for me, it’s Ginghers!

Stash Report Week 13

Still nothing added for me.  I’ve used 148.50 yards.

Care to share your stash report?  Guess this is our last report for March. 2009 is 1/4 over.  Have you used 1/4 as much fabric as you wanted to use this year?  If not . .  you still have time to make up for lost time.  By the end of April, I will be posting my Paducah report.  Anyone think I can to go Paducah and control myself??
