Feathers and More Feathers

April 16, 2009

Yesterday I realized that if I’m going to give dad’s quilt to him when I see him next week, I’d better get it quilted!

Loaded it and thought I could get it done yesterday.  What was I thinking?  Dad wouldn’t have cared if I’d done a panto or meander but I saw so much space for feathers.

Quilted til late last night and so far, all day today.  Just finished the background stitching on the last of the blocks.  Just the area below the bottom of the blocks left to do and then there’s quite a bit of fill in work to get done.

There are lots of feathers!  They’ll show up better from the back side . . if ever I get it off the machine.

My goal now is to finish the quilting tonight (and that’s probably overly optimistic), get the binding on tomorrow and do the hand work over the weekend.

You have done a wonderful job on this quilt, as usual. I bet your dad will notice the feathers and be very pleased that you love him enough to do them. This is a truly wonderful quilt! And, as usual I have looked at the ads. Anybody but me notice they are different on all of Judy’s posts? Found some fascinating info on some of them….there are tables on sale on the post above this one from a company I didn’t know existed, and links on this post to places I have not been. I feel like I have my own directory to undiscovered sites when I visit here, lol.

I just love feathers on a quilt. That has to be my favourite quilting design. And probably the hardest to do and the most costly. But I still love it. Beautiful work. I’m sure your father will love it too.
