Design Wall Monday June 8, 2009

June 8, 2009

Here’s my design wall as of today:

dsc06970

Not much changed from last week.  I added a few smaller half square triangles.  That’s exactly all the piecing I did this past week!  A whole week of longarming and binding!  Sad, huh?

What’s on your design wall?   What changed from last week?

Nothing! I just cleaned it off yesterday in preparation of putting a new layer of batting on it. Currently, it has a light gray felt cover and I find the blocks do not ‘stick’ as I would like. So I am going to go to the store and buy a new batt for my wall. I was thinking Warm and Natural. Any recommendations?

I agree with Mary, maybe by posting weekly reports it will help keep me motivated to work on this project!

Got my design wall up! I found some wonderful flannel at Mill End (our “left-overs” store), has nice body and good & clingy. Love it! Not sure Mr. Linky is working, so I thought I would post in the comments. Thank you, Judy, for all you do!

Still using the floor and an old tablecloth, but dug out a top (Butterfly Blooms too~ thanks Mary!) and plan to finish its borders soon. ;)

Managed to make 3 more rolling star blocks and do a bit of binding, otherwise not much change.

My Pinwheels and Stars were moved over to the edge and then finally taken off earlier today — the string tumblers have taken over but I’m almost ready to start assembling that top — just 5 more string blocks to make first.

Thanks Judy, thanks everyone! I’m really glad so many have now got design walls. I wouldn’t have found some of my most recent mistakes – and fixed them in time – without one! Have a good week eating ground beef:)

Not a thing on the design wall. It’s all rolled up and begging for a new project but I haven’t started one yet. Thinking about doing a NY Beauty, though :) I was gifted with 8 fq’s of Laurel Burch fabrics that would be oh so cool in a NY Beauty quilt !

Our daughters wedding was Saturday so I did no sewing. I did play with the blocks and choose a setting for them. Choose favric for finishing the outer edge. This week I will be playing catch up so I don’t expect to stitch much again this week.

I’m working on a quilt from Country Garden by Kaffel Fassett. On my blog I have posted Stages 1 picking the fabrics and 2 designing the large block layout (on my “design wall” floor. Still cutting more fabrics for the sashing so more stages to come.

I’m a little late in posting my photo this week…but I finally got enough blocks to make it look like I was working hard!
