At least you've got something up on the wall -- mine's still blank but I'm hoping to get something started this week.

I made one of those - took me forever as it was my second ever quilt project. A friend uses it as her tree skirt, and loves it. Never again, well, I did make a few bitty ones for miniature trees. LOL

I remember that pattern! I didn't buy it, but I borrowed the idea. I was planning to make Christmas tree skirts, and my dad bought me 3 different Christmas fabrics to use. All 3 were printed with Christmas scenes in blocks at least 12" square. He also got a tree skirt/table cloth pattern that was totally unsuited for the fabrics. He meant well and tried to get something he thought I wanted/needed, but was clueless about quilting fabric. The fabric was cotton.

Inspired by the tree skirt pattern Judy is making, I fussy cut the Christmas scenes out of the fabric in diamond or hexagon shapes. I added 1 or 2 rounds of strips, log cabin style, and stitched the pieces together. 20 years later, my mom still uses her tree skirt. I still have the one I made for myself. I used the pattern Daddy bought to make 2 table cloths for my mom and she uses the 2nd one sometimes. Ah, memories.

I know this is out of your comfort box, but it is pretty. The colors are so "Christmas like". Just in time to get you in the mood for the holiday season! I am proud of you for finishing this UFO. I can't wait to see what you do with it.
