I've worked some with batiks and I've found they vary in texture and thickness. I first worked with thicker fabrics and I was a little skeptical about working with batiks again. But as my skill level increases, I find I need to take a little more time working with the thicker batiks. I find no difference between the thinner batiks and other cottons.
Love the colors and the title. Can't wait to see it.

I have batiks, and I throw 'em in with other fabrics because their saturation/intensity brightens up the others, whether in totally scrappy quilts or sorta controlled (reds, whites, blues) quilts. The best piece of advice I ever got about piecing batiks was to use a size 70/10 Microtex sharp sharp sharp needle.

Very nice....and yes, the same woman who told me about the 70/10 Microtex recommended against hand-quilting because of the tighter weave of batiks. I think she said something like, regular quilting fabrics have 60 threads per linear inch and batiks have 72? (it was about four or five years ago)

The fabrics look yummy....I love piecing with batiks...they just behave so nicely. I look forward to seeing the completed quilt.
