For the most part, I make our menu and do much of the cooking for the entire week on Sunday or Monday. I don’t know what happened this week but I never cooked a single meal. From the weekend, we had leftover ham, gumbo, soup, and pork. Between being out of town and the leftovers, there was no major cooking going on. That rarely happens around here.
But, I did need to make bread and I had a sourdough starter to use so I mixed up a 2 loaf batch of dough and then decided to make 1 loaf of bread and was thinking about making cinnamon rolls when I remembered seeing an apple braid on Suzanne McMinn’s blog. Vince must’ve gotten a deal on apples because there were quite a few of them downstairs so in order to use a few of the apples and the extra bread dough, I made this recipe.
Added a little vanilla ice cream .. yummy!
And, it was even better today. The appley, gooey, syrup has infused the bread and . . I’m glad Vince and Chad are fishing this morning because I may just eat the rest of it all by myself.
