Creative Grids rulers are my favorite! I resist buying every ruler on the market, even every Creative Grids ruler because they get expensive. When I first saw this Fussy Cut ruler, I thought it was interesting. Often when I’m trying to fussy cut a piece, I’ll try to mark the center of the focus piece, or I’ll use some 1/4″ tape around my ruler so I can see where the center of the focus piece will be. Last time I was fussy cutting something, I said to myself that I’m going to buy that Creative Grids Fussy Cut ruler next time I saw it and . . that’s what I did.
What a great tool! You can see where the lines all intersect so you know where the center is. Do you see all the little drilled holes on the diagonal lines? They’re the size that a water soluble marker tip will fit into.
A pencil will also fit. You make a little mark in the holes for the size you want to cut. I wanted to cut 3-1/2″ squares.
Can you see the dots I made across this strip?
Then line up a ruler with the dots. I prefer my square.
It was so easy to get all my squares cut with my star perfectly in the center.
The Fussy Cut ruler comes in several sizes. I got the 8-1/2″ size. Check with your local quilt shop. If they don’t have it, I’m betting they’d be happy to get it for you!
