Chad Cooked Dinner

Chad loves Thai and Indian food but he likes it way hotter than I can eat it.  He’s had a recipe he’s been wanting to try so he tried it and I think we’ll be requesting it again.

I think he called it Thai Shrimp Curry served over Forbidden Black Rice.  Don’t ask me why it’s called that . . I’d never heard of it but he found it at Whole Foods in Kansas City.

Thanks Chad for a fantastic dinner!

So Grape!

At the Amish store last weekend, they had grapes.

They weren’t so pretty so I wasn’t going to get any but the store guy told me to taste them so I tasted one and Vince tasted one and we were both standing there wiping drool from our chins.  They were so good!  The seem to be some type of Concord grape.  We bought enough to make two batches of jelly.  As I was making it, Vince could hardly stand it.  The whole house smelled like the sweetest grape smell you can imagine.

And, it made some fantastic grape jelly.  12 pints means 1 pint each month!  :)

You can see this pint is barely going to make through the week.  Not sure if I like this better than crab apple jelly but cherry jam still comes in at #1.

It’s Friday Again

Can you believe how quickly the weeks are flying by?  Every day   . .  every week . . just flying!   Yesterday I happened to look at the sticker on my car for the oil change and the last time it was changed was December!  And I’ve gone almost double the miles I should’ve gone.  I never ever do that!  The oil change guy is picking it up at 8:00 this morning and maybe Vince will never know how long it’s been between oil changes.

All the tomatoes for 2010 are canned.  All the jalapenos are canned.  I am not going to the Amish store this weekend.  Really . . I’m not!  Nothing to be canned and I think all my cooking for the weekend is done.  Know what that means?  I hope it means I’m going to be sewing.  Sewing all weekend.

There’s nothing on my design wall now.  Empty.  Just the way it’s been for about 10 days now. Empty design walls are not very exciting, are they?  I hope by the end of the weekend I will have made about 200 half square triangles and have all the borders done for my next quilt.

What are your sewing plans for the weekend?

I Spotted a Button

Tonight while reading blogs, and going from one to another, I found the Patchwork Times button on the Timber Hill Threads blog.  Thanks Angie!  You will be receiving a little Mighty Bright light. I love mine and hope you love yours too.  I’ll keep watching for those buttons and in a week or so, there will be another little prize.  Thanks everyone for having the button on your blog!
