Stash Report – October 3, 2010

October 3, 2010

Sorry I’m late this morning.  Been a busy, busy morning already!  My routine was off.  Vince headed in one direction, Chad in another . .

I sewed my fingers to the bone this week.  Well, not quite . . but I did do a lot of sewing.  But, everything I worked on had already been counted so there is nothing to add to my used column.  The good news is . . there’s nothing to add to the added side either so my numbers are the same as they were last week.

Used this Week:  0 yards
Used year to Date: 496.25 yards
Added this Week: 0 yards
Added Year to Date: 156 yards
Net Used for 2010:  340.25 yards

All that sewing and nothing to show for it! You MUST use 3.75 yards next week to get that usage to 500! Absolutely amazing!!

I had a Zero in – Zero out as well, though I quilted another top. It’s been too busy at work, but I figured nevertheless I post a stash report. Your numbers look great! they always make me strive for more…
Thanks for hosting – it’s crunch time and I still have ways to go to meet my stash reducing goal. Where did all the weeks of 2010 go??

Zero out and zero in is a great result. Unfortuantely I had zero out and some I simply couldn’t resist come in.

You weren’t the only one running behind this morning. I was acutally relieved you were just a bit late, since my report was so late this morning. (I forgot to get all my pictures last night and then this morning while trying to get all my shots, I filled up the last data card for my digital camera!).

You’ve really completed some pretty quilts this week and have had such a wonderful fabric usage year. I haven’t met my goal yet, but there is still a little more time left this year. Thanks so much for hosting the stash report each week.

Finally I had time to get back to sewing and completed something so there was actually some stash busting to report this week!

Judy, could you explain again how this works. I was thinking I had to measure all my stash and put it down in the stats, but on careful study, don’t see that that is necessary. I want to do this to show myself that I’m actually using the stash, but am clueless. Think if I’ve got this right it would look like this as my first report:
Used this Week: .5 yards
Used year to Date: ??yards
Added this Week: 0 yards
Added Year to Date: ?? yards
Net Used for 2010: .5yards

Ah me!

Judy, Your numbers speak for themselves EVERY WEEK whether you sew or not. I had nothing in and nothing out also. I’m going on a road trip tomorrow to Hannibal, so watch out next week. I may try to leave my wallet at home! :) Thanks much for inspiring us to “shop our stash” first. I usually do that but my stuff is so old and dated that except for scrap quilts, nothing looks fresh. I am having second thoughts about the way I calculate the fabric I used, I calculate it in square metres (and convert that in yards) and it seems like I use awfully little fabric in my quilts. How do you calculate your used stash?
I didn’t do much stashbusting this month because I was busy doing batik. But, I used handdyed fabrics that turned out dull for this, so I revamped my old fabrics, making them more attractive to use (I hope).
