The Next Quilt

The second to last quilt for the book!  As I was trying to choose colors, I just couldn’t come up with anything.  It needed 4 purples — from a very light, almost whitish lavender to a deep purple.  My stash never seems to have enough purple and with some being reddish, some being blueish, some being pinkish, it’s real hard for me to get 4 of them that work together.  This is when I miss The Village Mercantile!  She has so much fabric, I could go there and get exactly what I needed, plus some!  :)

When I did find 4 purples that I thought would work, I was just a tad short on one of them.  The quilt was finalized in Electric Quilt but a couple of the purples were so similar, that I decided to swap one shade for something totally different so I could see how many of those pieces were in the quilt.  I swapped it for a bright green and suddenly my quilt had a whole new look and I love it!  It’s much prettier than the original color choices.  Here are the fabrics I’ll be using  . . only thing is . . I can’t decide which green.   Actually I think I’m going to go with something that isn’t even shown here but I already had the memory stick out of the camera so you don’t get to see that one.  But, I could change my mind . . that’s a woman’s right, you know?

I think this green doesn’t have enough “life” even though it is a Dimple fabric.

I kinda like this green.

This one might have too much design and stand out more so than the other tone on tone fabrics.

Don’t you think the 2nd one is the best choice out of these three greens?  I really should take a picture of the one I’m thinking of using.  Sometimes a picture helps me decide.

Winter!

Temps here have been hovering just below freezing all morning and while we don’t have much sunshine, we don’t have rain or ice or wind but it’s just so wintery looking outside.  I went out with the camera hoping to get some pictures . . don’t ask me what I thought I might find.  No flowers, no garden, not much of anything photoworthy around our yard right now.

Anyway, I thought I could get a picture of Vince out picking up stuff around the pole barn but he wouldn’t come outside and I was afraid if I went inside, he might find a chore for me to do.  He’s cleaning out the barn so he can hopefully move all the stuff from the downstairs garage into there so we can make a decision about turning that room into the downstairs kitchen.

There are a couple of chickens on the walkway . . hoping for a treat no doubt.  That’s about all there is to see right now . . a couple of chickens.

Speaking of chickens, remember the one that was moulting and had hardly any feathers?  When I got back from Louisiana, she had a nice coat of new feathers and she’s very pretty and clean looking.  Still not laying but she’s pretty.  I guess that counts for something, huh?  She’s my least friendly chicken or I would get a picture of her with all her new feathers. You’ll just have to take my word for it! : )

Dear Santa

There’s only one thing on my wish list this year and I know I’m not getting it . . though I seriously might buy it for myself next year, or maybe the next year.  I want one of these but one that’s not electric.

Lehman’s has this washer and I’ve been talking about it for a while.  I think Vince thinks I’m joking when I ask for it . . or maybe he just thinks I’m nuts!

If I had a place to put it, and if I could find one I like that’s totally not electric, I would get it but I can’t think of any place to put it.  IF I get the downstairs kitchen, I’ll have a water faucet and a place to heat water right near the downstairs patio and I might get it then.  I’m not giving up my automatic washer but I would love to have one like this.  I remember my grandma having an old wringer washer and she would sometimes let us put the clothes through the wringer but she was so afraid we were going to get our hands in there that she didn’t let us use it much.

While everyone else is getting their big front loader machines, this is the one I want!  And, some day I’m going to get it!  Hear that Santa?
