Stash Report – Week 13, 2011
This is the last stash report for the first quarter of 2011. Hope you’re all where you want to be or at least have an idea of how to get there.
I’ve been quilting and sewing on bindings and sleeves and labels but all the fabric I’m using has already been counted except for the backing for my brown quilt. I used 5 yards for the backing.
Used this Week: 5 yards
Used year to Date: 93.50 yards
Added this Week: 0
Added Year to Date: 0
Net Used for 2011: 93.50 yards
Please share a link to your stash report. Remember that you can join us any time and you don’t HAVE to post a link every week. If you forget a week or two, just jump in when you feel like it. We’re always glad to see your reports.
I’m using the new link box without the thumbnails so let’s see how that goes. I’ll check back after an hour or so and see if all is well here.

I did like the thumbnails, although I suppose they made the post very long. It was fun to get a preview of pictures!
I’ve been stalled this week – trying to prepare for a week long visit with friends, and doing final shopping before heading north for the summer. I hope to get a bit of quilting done this morning, then I’ll be in the kitchen, baking desserts and making “do ahead” salad prep so I’ll be able to enjoy the visit instead of being stuck in the kitchen. Since my only goal for the quarter was to end up with more fabric used than added, I’m doing fine….

My only goal was just to get a better handle on my stash. That I am doing–just by knowing what I am using/buying. As long as I stay in a “net busted” position, I am happy with my progress.
I have done a bit of emotional shopping, but overall I am using more than I am bringing home. I have found that since moving I don’t have as big of a stash as I used to have (good thing) and I don’t think I have nearly as big a stash as others must have. If I had used as much as Judy has used, I think I would definitely see a dent!
This is the third year I’ve been tracking my quilting related purchases and fabric usage. I’ve used nearly twice as much fabric this year as I did in this time frame the previous two years. And my fabric purchases are down — but I’ve spent the same amount of money. But this year it’s on thread and notions to complete quilts, with the exception of the batiks I bought last week. If I can just keep on track.
I’ve done a much better job of limiting what I’m bringing in compared to last year, but I’m not useing any more than I did last year. That one is a bit harder to tackle. I am trying to make better use of my time and get some sewing done every day.
Thanks for hosting the stash management. I could do the tracking on my own, but knowing I have to fess up to my “fabric binges” really helps me stay on track.
I’m doing pretty well, almost even. However, the local shop hop is this week and then Paducah in a month. It won’t last but maybe I can limit my purchases! (wink, wink)
I liked the thumbnail pics. It was nice to have a peeek first !

I am impressed that you have not bought fabric yet – Can you send some of the will power this way – pleeeease?
Hmm, I don’t think I ever saw the thumbnails on my browser!
I fell off of the wagon again. I need to stop buying. I hope to get out of the red soon.
I’m still in the red. Sigh. Luckily I didn’t buy any fabric this month, but the month isn’t over yet.
Despite my scary numbers, I think I’m getting closer to where I want to be. All of the fabric I bought this year has been dirt cheap (fifty cents a yard on average, some much cheaper!) Most of it is nicer than most of my existing stash. And I’m not buying new fabric.
Now, I’ve just got to get my sewing room organized and I’ll be doing great!
Slowing down but still not producing much besides bee blocks.
I have still used more than I’ve bought for the year, but this week I added a 3 yd piece of wide backing. My totals for the year are: Used YTD – 14.72 yds
Bought YTD – 11.67. I’m still in the black by the small amout of 3.05 yards.
Not anywhere near where I wanted to be this quarter, but I’m trying hard not to buy more fabric unless I absolutely need it. Our shop hop is this week too and then Paducah. I’d better leave my $$ at home to ensure being good, right??

I’m doing OK with my stash busting. I have used a little more than I bought so I am ahead. Next quarter I should do better.
Judy, I posted my stash report today Monday but the link isn’t happy. I did post to the right blog post. Can you fix? There was a problem with blogpost last night and jpg files showing. That’s why the delay in linking up. Sandi
Need to total my usage for the week… but didn’t buy anything — kids on holidays and they didn’t want to go fabric shopping the day we were out….
