Good Help is Hard to Find!

Vince thinks I don’t know what he’s doing but I do!  Chad got a new laptop last week so he was showing it to Vince.  Vince loves Chad’s new laptop and Vince wants one but he got a new laptop a month or so ago and it’s still sitting in the closet in a box.  My laptop is getting hot and I don’t want a new laptop.  I just want it fixed!  About the time I get a computer all set up the way I want it, he replaces it.  While Chad was showing Vince his new laptop, Vince said “I like that!  Wouldn’t mind having one myself!”  Chad said “Get HER a new laptop.  Her fan is so noisy, it drives me nuts.”

So, Vince, being the generous guy that he is, offered to give me the new laptop that he no longer wants.  I said “No, thank you!  When I want a new computer, I’ll pick it out my own self but right now, I just want my laptop to not get so hot.”  Vince is so sure my laptop will go out any day that he insists I take his new one . . because he’s such a nice guy.

OK.  I’ll take your laptop but you have to put all my stuff on it so it works just like the one I have now . . except it won’t get hot!  Big problem:  Most of my software is already packed.  Wasn’t thinking I’d be getting a new computer any time soon.  Where’s my Electric Quilt CD?  I can make it without everything else but I have to have EQ.

So Vince is working hard (or is that . . hardly working?) to get my new laptop ready before he leaves.

Wait . . he isn’t working . . he’s sleeping!!

Already a Stranger

It’s been a little over two months since we gave our chickens away.  We found a home for them and gave them away before we went to Texas for a week to look for a house (a lot of good that trip was!) and the guy who usually took care of them for us when we were gone had already transferred and we thought I’d be going back and forth to Texas more often and since we had to give them away anyway, we did it then.  Vince had wanted to go see them several times and I was too afraid I would cry and act like a baby.

We figured we should go tell them goodbye and the next time Vince is home is when the movers will be here and we doubted we would have time to do it then so we had planned to go out to Ashley’s on Sunday evening.  It’s been so dry here for weeks and wouldn’t you know it, the bottom fell out right before we got there.  Rain, thunder, lightning . . but we went anyway.  Ashley had already told me that if I could figure out which of the red chickens were mine and which were hers, I’d be a better chicken mama than she is.  I could  not tell and . . not a single one of them recognized me.  There was one that was already on the roost that I thought might have been Ruby.  (The picture is when I still had them and that’s definitely Ruby.)  She kept looking at me when I was talking to them and I thought she might come down to see me but she never did.

They have lots of free range room there . . on 34 acres!  They have a nice chicken coop and two kids that love them a lot so while it was sad that they didn’t recognize me, I could see that they were happy and have a good life so I wasn’t upset when I left.  I hope I can get more next spring.

Design Wall Monday – July 4, 2011

Hope everyone has a great July 4!

About that design wall . . mine is going to be pretty boring for the next few months I’m afraid.  Today is a piece of a block and I worked hard to get this far on it just to have something to show. I’m not even sure where I’m headed with this quilt but I have a couple of ideas.
