Sothia Completed

Sothia was such a fun project.  Before I started knitting it, I was afraid I’d have to pay a lot of attention and do a lot of counting but I did not.  It’s a really easy knit and I love how it turned out.  I used Loopy Solid Series from The Loopy Ewe.  The colors I used were Dove and Iron.  The yarn didn’t feel as soft as some yarns when I was knitting it but once it was soaked and then dry, it feels very soft and has a nice drape.

It had to be finished by July 15 for the Camp Loopy project and I finished it . . blocked and dried and photographed on July 9.  We cannot cast on for Project II til July 15 so I’m going to finish up a pair of socks I had started before I began working on Sothia.

I’m already planning my second Sothia using Madelinetosh Merino Light.  The dark blue is Well Water and the lighter color is White Wash.

Is that going to be gorgeous?  Perfect for those cold Texas nights!  :)

Entertaining Myself

How do you prepare to entertain yourself when you don’t know if you’ll be:

  1. In a hotel for 2 months with all your stuff in storage and no access to any of it except what you packed in your car?
  2. In a hotel for a week or two with no access to anything except what you brought in your car?
  3. Moving right into your new home with everything delivered and left for you to put away?

There’s a slim chance we’ll be able to go from here right to the house we want.  There’s a better change that we will not be able to get it for a couple of weeks and though I don’t want to think about it, there’s a chance something will not go as planned and we won’t even get the house we’re hoping to get and will have to start over at Square 1.  The hardest part is that we won’t know what’s happening until about the same time the packers get here so I’m preparing for Option #1 and if any of the other options happen, well . . that will make it all easier.

This afternoon I came up with the plan for my knitting.

That’s enough yarn for 8 pairs of socks, a couple of scarves, another Sothia and a Pamuya.  But something was missing!  There was one other skein of yarn I knew I’d miss and wish I had with me.

Tosh Sock in Edison Bulb . . doesn’t it just light up that whole pile of yarn?  I surely hate to use it on socks . . no one would really see those but me.  That yarn makes me smile!

Each ball of yarn has a pattern or a notation as to the pattern I’m going to use and the pattern is either with it or in the pocket of the bag, along with needles if it needs something  more than my regular sock needles.

All set and ready to go.  There’s one more ball of yarn and pattern to be added and then it can be zipped and go into the corner with the other stuff that goes into my car.

29 days til the movers come.  23 days til Vince comes home.  5 more times to cut the grass, including today, if I have it figured correctly . . but who’s counting?

Stash Report Week 28, 2011

It’s hard for me to believe it but I never went to my sewing room once this week.  Whatever free time I had this week was spent knitting.  I was out of two town days and Vince was home for two days so heck . . that’s really a good chunk of my week.

So . . my numbers didn’t change from last week:

Used this Week: 0 yards
Used year to Date: 208.50 yards
Added this Week: 0 yards
Added Year to Date: 10 yards
Net Used for 2011: 198.50 yards
