The Disappearing Frog

The previous owner of this house left us lots of stuff.  Every now and then they come back and get something so I don’t really know what’s here to stay or what I’m just babysitting for them.  I don’t mind . . the lady who lived here is building a little cabin and it isn’t ready yet.  The owners of the big ranch house will be here this weekend so they may take some of this stuff.  It’s ok . . whatever they leave is fine . . whatever they take is fine.

They left this hanging ivy and a huge aloe vera plant.

They left a bench and a chair.  It’s nice to have because we haven’t ordered any porch furniture yet . . just haven’t had the time to look for it.

They left the dinner bell and that’s one thing I’d really like to keep.  Vince can be way out in the back working and he hears me ring the bell.

This little critter was left and he has been somewhat of a problem.

Yes, I know I need to clean my porch!  He’s been here since we first looked at the house.  Walk by him and he “ribbits” at you.  At first he scared me and then he aggravated me and then I grew to like him.  Wednesday I walked by out there and he didn’t “ribbit” at me and I meant to see what was wrong but forgot.  That night Vince came in and said “The frog is gone!”  NO!   Yep, we went out, moved things around to be sure he hadn’t gotten bumped but he was nowhere to be found.  We decided the lady who had lived here must’ve come back for him.

Yesterday evening Vince went out with Speck and guess who’s back!  Yep, the frog is back.

My guess is that Steve, the builder, had something to do with this incident because . . well . . who else would have moved the frog and then put him back?  If Steve didn’t do it . . that would be really weird!

We’re both really glad to have the frog back!  Doesn’t take much to entertain us, does it?

Fine Dining

Last night was night #2 we’ve spent at the new house.  It wasn’t easy to talk Vince into staying but I did it.  We had a “take and bake” pizza from Wal-Mart.  It actually wasn’t bad.  Tonight we had grilled cheese sandwiches and the last of the turkey bone soup.

We both keep commenting that it feels like we’ve rented a cabin in the woods.  We have very few of our possessions here.  We still can’t find the light switches.  We can’t remember where we’ve put anything (just like when we rent a cabin on vacation).  And, we’re sharing a small table with a sewing machine and all the sewing paraphernalia which happens when we rent cabins for vacation.

The best part about this “vacation” is . . we never have to leave!
