I did forget to add the link box for the November Monochromatic Challenge. It was black, white and one color. Tomorrow is the stash report link box and Monday is the design wall link box so I’ll put up the November Monochromatic Challenge link box on Tuesday. If I forget, please remind me!!
Denise’s 12 in 2012 Challenge
My friend, Denise, who has spent so many years twisting my arm encouraging me to buy fabric and yarn, has fallen and bumped her head I think!
She’s issued a challenge – 12 in 2012. If you’re a knitter, especially a sock knitter, you might want to check out Denise’s challenge. I’m going to do it because:
- No yarn buying during 2012 except for Camp Loopy and Eat, Sleep, Knit‘s Black Friday Sale. I can do that! I need to do that (the no buy part)!
- Finish 12 pairs of socks in 2012. Can be socks already started. I can do that! I need to do that!
- Except for the socks already in progress, use new patterns for each pair. I can do that! I need to do that! Maybe because I’ve ventured into other types of knitting but my sock knitting interest has been a bit lackluster. I’ve given away lots of socks and need to make more, as well as gifts for Christmas, 2012.
I’m in. I’ll be posting my progress. Maybe I’ll pick a day each month and report on everything I’ve done as far as knitting and quilting accomplishments.
Check out Denise’s blog and join us. I’d sure hate to be the only one not buying yarn in 2012. Suffering alone is no fun at all!
Another House Guest
We just thought the geckos were bad. Vince found this little guy on the closet wall this morning.
Vince to the rescue . . as always!
This makes me a bit anxious about sleeping on the blowup bed on the floor. Vince said “That’s what you live with when you live in Texas!” Back in January when I was hearing how wonderful it would be for us to move to Texas, I don’t think there was any mention of scorpions. Vince said “They sting! It’s not life threatening. There’s nothing you can do about it!” Hmmm . . not so sure about that. I never saw a scorpion in Missouri! But then I looked around and didn’t see any neighbors and didn’t see any red tags and didn’t see any snow (although believe it or not, the radio said we might have snow Monday but now they’re saying it’s going to be more ice than snow) and I said . . ok . . I can live with a scorpion or two.
The bug spray man comes every three months so he should be here in the next couple of weeks. I’ll ask him about it but we don’t let him spray inside because of Speck.
The Good Life
There wasn’t a doubt in my mind that if I could get Vince over to the new house to spend one night, there’d be no going back to the rental except to get stuff. Sure enough, Wednesday night we stayed at the new house. Then Vince gave me a list of things to bring back from the rental when I went there on Thursday to get some things I needed. The real test . . can you figure it out?
The TV! Today there are football games — LSU vs. Georgia at 3 p.m. and then Clemson vs. Virginia Tech at 7 p.m. If we didn’t have TV at the new house and he had to go back to the rental to watch the games there, he would spend the night there because he wouldn’t drive back out here that late. I did NOT want to spend another night there!
The previous owners at the new house had DishNetwork which is what we have so Vince brought the receiver over and a TV last night and set it all up and YIPPEE . . it worked! I’ve never been so happy to see a TV work in all my life. I brought the rocking chair in from the front porch so we’d each have a place to sit. I’m using a box for a foot rest. Utopia!
Did I already say on here that we’re getting a partial move next Friday? It will be a small truck and we’ll bring the beds, bedroom furniture, sofa and maybe entertainment center over. The entertainment center is going in the master bedroom . . which is way bigger than the family room. We’ve ordered new family room furniture but it won’t be here til after the first of the year. The current sofa will go into my sewing room when the new furniture gets here. We’re going to have to get pretty creative with arranging things so everything fits but we can do it.
Anyway . . we’re all set — TV, internet, sewing machine, gas stove . . what more could a girl ask for? Not a darned thing!
