The Well House

Vince loves his little well house.

He didn’t like the way the door opened  . . it was kinda ugly and “homemade looking” so he had Steve completely rebuild the front of the house.

Then he had the insulation guys blow in a ton of insulation and on cold nights he turns on a big light bulb in there and everything stays nice and toasty warm so we have water . . even when it’s freezing cold out there.

The driveway comes around by the well house.  When we’re backing out, depending which way we’re headed, we can back towards the well house or away from the well house.  Vince has been so worried that I’m going to back into the well house.  Really?  There’s so much room back there, why does he think I would hit the well house.

Guess who DID back into the well house last night?  Yep . . Vince did it!  Not a big deal . . it’s just a corner!  Do you think it would have been a big deal if I had hit the corner?  I would never have heard the end of it.

He’s off to Home Depot to get some boards and some brown paint!  :)

Squeezing It All In

It’s been fun having a sewing machine and a little cutting station and ironing board set up in the house so I was hoping to keep that.  My main sewing room will be outside but it will be nice to have projects I can work on in the evenings and not be out in the other room.  I can make little “kits” and maybe . . in theory . . finish one before cutting another one.

The moving men brought the beds, living room furniture and some stuff for the storage building yesterday.  Here’s the master bedroom.  (Notice the room Vince controls has the shades completely closed . . the room where I spend most of my time . . they’re wide open day and night!)

This is by far the biggest room in the house . . which makes no sense to me.  Before we left Kentucky, we sold our bedroom furniture.  We were going to get more and then found out we were moving to MO.  Several times in MO, we almost bought bedroom furniture and never did.  We had huge closets in the house in MO with built in drawers so we really didn’t need a dresser in there.  The room was so big, much bigger even than this room, and I just kept thinking that if we got furniture that looked like it fit in that room, it would be way too big for any future house so now I’m glad we didn’t get furniture and am not quite sure what we’re going to do.  Vince has his craft table in there with the desktop computer on it.  The desktop computer will go in my sewing room when it’s done.  The entertainment center didn’t fit in the living room so it’s in the master bedroom.  Don’t ask me how the blowup bed got in the floor but it’s there.  All the leftover rugs got stuck in the master bedroom for now. A bunch of them will go into the sewing room later.

The sofa with the slipcover hiding the big flowers will go into my sewing room . . slipcover and all!  We still haven’t ordered a sofa because we decided to wait and see how things fit.  We kept thinking we’d get a sofa and a loveseat and then we kept thinking there’s only room for a sofa and a recliner.  I think the sofa and recliner is what it’s going to have to be.  Do you see something in the living room that I said I didn’t want in the living room?  Yep, just one of many battles I have lost lately.  For now, the TV is sitting on an end table.  I’m going to get something very narrow and put against that wall  . . almost like a bookcase or a sofa table I’m thinking and then the TV is going to be mounted on the wall.  Not what I wanted but looks like it’s what I’m getting!  :(

I was able to keep the sewing machine, cutting table, ironing board and get the queen size bed in here!  The book case has no books because I can’t find the pegs for the shelves.  I saw them at the rental but am not sure where they are right now.  This is where I go sleep on the nights when Vince is snoring . . which is almost every night.  It’s ok . . he says I snore too and I know I do because every now and then, I wake my own self up!

Here’s the other side of that room.  Chest of drawers, quilt rack and I cut off the section that has boxes stacked floor to ceiling!  :)   It’s  a pretty crowded room but I think it will work for now.  Once the sewing room gets finished and all the bolts of fabric come out of the 3rd bedroom, I might move the sewing machine and cutting table in there.  We’ll see.

For now . . having the beds and the sofa are making this place seem like home!
