Purple Quilts

The third bedroom in this house is painted a lavenderish-gray.  It looks more lavender in the daylight and more gray at night.  The plan was to put a purple-ish quilt on the bed for when my parents are here.  I knew I had at least one quilt here with some purple in it but was surprised at how many of my quilts have purple in them, especially since so many of my quilts are either at mom’s or still packed.

My first choice was to put the Road to Brownwood quilt on the bed.

I really should have removed that giant rubber band from the night stand but I was too afraid of getting popped.  I’m going to get Vince to do that . . he’s really good about doing the dangerous tasks around here . . so long as no painter’s tape is involved.  Don’t want him hurting his shoulder again!

This is the quilt I had originally thought of when I thought about a purple-ish quilt.  This one is using my blog from the 3rd Quiltmaker 100 blocks issue.

Then I noticed this one – most of the purple is around the outer edges.  It’s a Blooming Nine Patch . . one of many of those that I made and they are so fun to make.

And, finally, the last quilt in the stack that had some purple, and one of my favorites . . Morning Splash!  I love this quilt. I was tired of spreading them all out so it’s just folded at the foot.  Mom can unfold it if she wants to use it.

Shouldn’t be any complaints about not having enough quilts on the bed, huh?

Vince, the Builder

Poor Vince.  Don’t think I’m picking on him but any time he does anything, I know there’s a blog post in the making!  He’s such a good guy and such a good sport but he definitely has his limitations.  Building!  Fixing!

When we started working on the sewing room, I called the builder aside and I said “If you see Vince with a hammer or a screw driver, please stop him!”  In the end, he almost always fixes things but he can make some pretty big messes (and say a lot of four letter words!) before he’s done.

When he originally put my under the cabinet radio/MP3 player up in MO, it was a piece of cake.  No four letter words that I recall, no tears, no cabinet maker involved.   I’ve been asking him to put it up here.  I didn’t realize that there was a template that came with it and we no longer have the template.

In the middle of my hand cream creation session Thursday, he announced that he was ready to install the radio.  OK . . how could I say no to that?  I stopped what I was doing, took everything out of the cabinet and left the room.  I should have left the county!

At this point, I should have said “No!  I’m in the middle of making hand cream!”  But, I really wanted that radio installed.

After two attempts (that’s eight holes in my cabinet and lots of sawdust everywhere, it still doesn’t fit.  You know what they say .. the third time’s the charm . . but we’ll try that on another day!  He announced he was “DONE” an this is how he left things.  Fine . . I’ll clean up the mess and I’ll fish the sawdust out of my hand cream and I’ll put everything away and I”ll forget that I ever asked for a radio in my kitchen!

During the process of installing the radio is when Vince “hurt” his shoulder!  See that piece of painter’s tape attached to the edge of the counter and see the roll of it there?  Yep . . that’s where it all started!
