Third Time is Not the Charm

Vince drilled some more holes in my cabinet.  Really . . who needs an iPod player in the kitchen anyway?

The holes are hopefully maybe lined up but the screws we used in MO are too short because the lip on the cabinet is deeper here.  He will buy longer screws and some day . . maybe . . I’ll have an iPod player in the kitchen.  When he installed this thing in MO, it went up the first time — 4 holes in the cabinet and it was done.  12 holes in the cabinet here and it’s still not done.

See Speck?  He’s checking out Vince’s hand.  You never know . . there could be something to eat in that hand!

why not take a piece of paper and put it over the player’s holes. Poke a hole in each where the screw will be–then you have the template. Then you will be able to get the placement correctly.

It isn’t the screw hole placement that’s the issue. The radio has to be just perfectly placed under the cabinet with an exact measurement that sticks out from under the cabinet — almost impossible to do without the original template. Believe me . . he knows enough to make a paper template.

What type of an engineer is Vince? *L* My husband is even worse… he tried off and on for 2 months to replace our towel bars in the master bath, and never got them up correctly. But he’s a journalist.

Sybil is right. Template with paper. Works perfectly.

Template with paper works great. Longer screws at hardware, and I bet you could do it yourself Judy. Preferably when Vince is at work.

It’s not the placement of the screws that’s the issue but the radio has to be a certain distance from the back of the cabinet and a certain distance from the front of the cabinet. The hardware stores did not have the screws so he had to get some kind of bolts and have them threaded and they have a head on them so now things don’t sit flat in the cabinet. He’s ordered longer screws but had to pay an arm and a leg to get them. I think we would have been better off to have bought a new radio and started over from scratch.

How very frustrating for both of you! I assume that wood putty/filler is your best friend right now! Merry Christmas!

I have to laugh sometimes at the ads that show up in relation to the subject of your blog post. For the deer feeding post, the ad was about a device called The Guardian, a electronic deer repellent. LOL Have fun feeding them this year!
