Merry Christmas

To my blog readers who celebrate Christmas, Merry Christmas!  May your day be filled with love, peace and joy.  May we never forget the reason we celebrate Christmas — the birth of Christ!

To my blog readers who do not celebrate Christmas, I hope you have a good day and I hope you cooked because I’m betting there are few restaurants open in the U. S. today.

Our day will be quiet.  No family.  No tree.  No presents.  Chad is still working part-time at Wal-Mart in Sporting Goods and getting off around the holidays is next to impossible and even harder in Sporting Goods with all the hunting going on.  He used all his accumulated vacation time so he could get paid when he had his tonsils out.  He and Nicole will hopefully get a few days off and come here in January.  Our tree is in storage, along with all our decorations.  No presents because . . well . . the simple truth is . . we’ve just spent a heck of a lot on the sewing room, tractor and other things for the house, so for us, we’ve received lots of presents through the past couple of months.  Christmas is really about what’s in your heart . . at least for the adults.

We will have food!  I can justify buying a standing rib roast on Christmas.  I will make a salad and baked potatoes and roast the meat and bake some rolls.  Simple and easy with hardly any mess to clean up.  This will be a good Christmas for us.

Merry Christmas!  May your day be merry and bright!  :)

Stash Report – Week 52, 2011

It just doesn’t seem right to be having a stash report on Christmas Day but . . it’s our last stash report for 2011.  Can you believe it? I cannot!

Mom and I went to a quilt shop last week and I headed straight to the 50% table where I bought these two fabrics, both Moda, for half off.  Any time I see fabric for half off; especially fabric I know I will use fairly soon, I get it!  I bought 2-1/2 yards of one and 1 yard of the other . . all they had on the bolt

Used this Week: 0 yards
Used year to Date: 281.25 yards
Added this Week: 3.5 yards
Added Year to Date: 28.5 yards
Net Used for 2011: 252.75 yards

That’s my totals for 2011.  The fabric I added, I know exactly what it was — fabric I bought in Baton Rouge to make two bags (not made); fabric bought for a quilt for Vince (not made) and the fabric shown above.  Not bad.  I wish I’d used more; I wish my net number was larger but . . there’s always 2012, right?

Are you going to join me in busting the stash in 2012?  I hope I’m not alone but I’m doing it!
