She Must’ve Been a Quilter

I have a renewed hope that I may live to use all my fabric and yarn.  I always check the obituaries from home.  I saw this one and I said “YES!  I knew it was possible!”

If she was born in 1328, she would have turned 684 years old on March 9.  I figure . . if I live to be half that old . . say 342  years old, I’ll be able to use up most of my yarn and fabric  . . if I stop buying now.

There’s hope, quilters!  :)    I’m betting that very soon, that date will be changed on the obituary but it did give me a chuckle.

UFO Challenge Button

The reason I didn’t add the UFO Challenge button as a “click and copy” type button to start with is because I just plain can’t figure it out!  I’ve tried adding Denise’s 12 in 12 Sock Button and screwed up both my sidebars.  Every time I try to add something, I mess everything up.  No doubt, it’s very simple but I’ve messed up my blog so many times that I’m scared to do anything.  But, so many of you were having problems adding it, and I certainly understand, that after I woke up from my five hour nap this evening, I decided figuring out the button was a good thing to do.  After all,  I’ll probably be awake all night.  The good news is . . the doctor seems to have solved my coughing problem and I was able to sleep.

So, if you’re wanting the 2012 UFO button, you should be able to copy it and add it to your blog.

The bad news is . . some of you have posted your 2012 UFO lists  under the wrong link box.  That’s the problem with having too many of them appear at once but we’ll get it all straight.  Please go back and check your links here.  If it isn’t there, don’t worry about finding it and removing it from where ever it might be . . just get it in the right place and we won’t worry about the other one.

One more thing -  your link will be deleted if you link it to your main blog.  Here’s the example of what to do and what not to do.

Do not make this type link – http://www.patchworktimes.com.  That goes back to my main blog.  Your link should be to a specific post and should look similar to this:

http://www.patchworktimes.com/2011/12/20/2012-ufo-list-2/

As of now, there are 160 of us on there.  The link box will close on January 5.  If we all get all 12 of our quilts done, I think we should have a huge party on New Years Eve.  What do you think?  Maybe we could travel to a central location with all our 12 projects or maybe just have a bunch of “local” locations — have a big party and send all our pictures in to a quilt magazine!  Get busy quilters!  :)

Sock #1 for 2012 Finished

Yes!  It was finished on January 1.  I know . . my stamp still says 2011.  I make those things once a year and forget how to make them and it takes me an hour or more to figure it out.  I did finally figure it out and I made them for 2013 too, but not before the sock pictures were stamped with “2011″.

Here’s my Olympic Copper socks — my first finish of the year.

The picture below more accurately shows the color but the picture above shows the cables better.  The yarn is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock and it’s one of my favorites to knit with and for wearing.

Not sure what’s next but I need to get started if I’m going to keep up with Denise!  Seriously, I know that I need to get a few pairs in the “bank” because during spring and summer, my knitting time will be greatly diminished by my garden and chickens and ripping through the woods on the RTV . . or, am I dreaming again?

Anyone else making progress on your 2012 knitting?

Design Wall Monday – January 2, 2011

Nothing like starting the year off with a pathetic design wall and honestly, I thought about cleaning it up and making it look like I’ve been productive but the sad truth is . . I’ve been sick for seven days!  I came down with a sore throat and fever on Christmas night and haven’t felt like doing much all week.  Apparently half of Brown County was sick too because twice I went to the “doc in the box” and the wait was over an hour and I guess I wasn’t sick enough to wait.  I have an appointment to see a doctor today!  My self diagnosis (probably wrong) is that I have a sinus infection and sitting with my head down and the sewing machine running wouldn’t be fun.  Sitting in the recliner with Speck on my lap and knitting felt a whole lot better.  Vince has been on vacation almost the entire week . . that could account for my lack of sewing (notice I did NOT say he was making me sick!)  :)

Anyway . . my design table is covered in sock yarn and no telling what else is in this picture.  I did get a few flying geese trimmed but never turned my sewing machine on this week.  I’d say that’s proof that I felt pretty darned bad!

Vince goes back to work tomorrow, whatever the doctor gives me today will surely have me feeling better by tomorrow so hopefully this week I’ll get a lot more sewing done!
