A Little Progress

On the days I think I’ll get the most sewing done . . those are the days I get the least amount of sewing done it seems.  Part of moving to a new location means getting a new CPA and getting all set up so Vince had asked for recommendations and found one for us and we had our initial meeting/question/answer session this morning.  Then we went to lunch at a new Mongolian place in town and ran into my quilting friend, Doris, and her husband, who works with Vince and who are both from Nevada, MO.  How cool is that?  (Both that we ran into them in the restaurant and that they’re from Nevada!)  Doris and I talk and laugh like we’ve known each other forever and the  men just sit there and act like men!  :)   I think Vince sometimes gets frustrated that I can talk to anyone and anything and enjoy every minute of it.

After we finished eating, Vince was heading to Home Depot and I said “Will you please drop me off at the AT&T store?”  He always knows that’s going to cost him money.  Chad got a new smart phone not long before we left MO and in a freak accident, that really wasn’t his fault, it drowned so I told him I’d get myself a new phone and send him my Samsung Captivate that I got in May.  Got that done and then I came home to sew and this is how far I’ve gotten with my January Palette project.

The above photo was taken outside.  Bet the dirt/grass was a sure sign, huh?  The photo below was taken inside so you can see the differences in the colors from outside to inside.

Most of the comments disapproved of my choice of green but I still like the darker green better for this pattern.  At lease one comment said my choices were “flat” and I don’t see that either but . . that’s what makes us all different.  As you know, I mostly always use brights but for this design, I just happen to love these colors!

There’s a football game on tonight – Clemson and somebody.  Vince got a Masters from Clemson so I’m sure it will be a noisy night here.  I’ll sit and knit while watching the game.  Wait til you see the socks I’m working on now.  Love them!!  And, they’re lime green!  And, they have cables.  Thanks Denise for such a fun challenge!  There were so many patterns I’d been wanting to make but it was so easy to make plain Jane socks.  I’m having fun sewing and having fun knitting . . life is just plain fun at my house!

Messy Sewing Space

No matter how neat I try to be while sewing, and honestly — I don’t try to be too neat, I make a huge mess.  Yesterday morning I was up bright and early sewing.  Vince went back to work after being on vacation and having the holidays off and I knew I had the whole day to sew and I didn’t want to waste a minute.  It was getting close to time for him to come home and I looked around the room and thought – did I make this whole mess in just one day?  Pretty much . . I did!

There are some triangle units, some flying geese . . overall — a big mess but it surely felt good to spend the day sewing.  Today I had errands to run and was gone all  morning and hope to get some good sewing time in this afternoon.

Notice some of those fabrics are for my January Color Palette Challenge!

Fabrics for January Palette Challenge

On Fridays Vicki will be doing “lessons” on color and sharing some tips for fabric selections for each month’s color palette challenge.  I figured I’d get my fabric choices done and share them with you before Vicki does her first lesson and then we all can see if I made bad choices!  :)

This is the palette:

These are the fabrics I chose:

Even though the bright green is almost exactly the same shade as the green in Vicki’s palette, it seemed too bright next to my other fabric choices so I chose a bit darker green and kept all the other fabrics.

The darker green works better to my eye but I’ll be very anxious to read Vicki’s posts regarding the colors she would use.

Have you started looking for fabrics for your project yet?
