Sewing Room Update

It’s so very close to being finished.  So close, in fact, that tomorrow morning when I get ready to sew, I’ll head over there and do my sewing there.  Doors still do not have door knobs, doors need painting (and I am NOT painting them!), the design wall needs to be attached to the wall.  It’s still “evolving”.  I had planned to take the sofa from the house over there and get a new sofa for the house but Vince thinks the sofa will make the room too crowded.  I don’t know.  I may get a loveseat or maybe just a recliner but I want some place comfy to sit when I feel like sitting.  I was thinking a sofa or a loveseat for those days I might want to take a quick nap.  I cannot snooze in a recliner but I guess I could try to learn to do it.

The picture above is as you walk in the door from the house.  The longarm is all the way to the opposite end.  There are lights over the longarm but they aren’t on.  Tot he right is the cutting table, then the Bernina, then the fabric closet and the other closet.  To the left is a Singer 301, the desk where the desktop computer will be, the ironing station, then the back door.

A better shot of the right side.  You can see the design wall.  I think I ‘m going to love having the breakfast room table in there — a place to sit and draw or doodle.  Sometimes when I’m working up a new design, I like to spread the fabrics out and look at them for a few days without them being in my way while I’m sewing on another project.  We won’t be eating in there but we didn’t need the breakfast table in the house so I’m happy to have it out in the sewing room.

This is looking kinda straight ahead.  The ironing table to the left, Speck on his pillow in front of the door so he can watch the world through the storm door.

To the left where the computer desk and Singer 301 are located.

In the interest of full disclosure .. there’s a section I didn’t want to show you but just so you see that I’m really a slob . .

Maybe tomorrow I’ll get to that section or . . maybe not.  Maybe tomorrow I’ll just sew til I don’t want to sew any more and then I’ll come back to the house.  Maybe Tuesday I’ll work on this section!

If At First You Don’t Succeed –

Keep digging!  Yesterday morning Vince got the water line fixed.  I wondered if he was going to get back on the trencher and keep trenching.  By the afternoon, my closest neighbor came over and knocked on my door (no doorbell!)  and said “I think you must have a VERY large mole in your yard!  :)

Vince did get back on the trencher and he trenched and he trenched . .

Look how nice and straight this line is!  This was done yesterday morning.

Does this ditch seem to have a bit of a curve?  It was done Friday night when Vince and Steve were having too much fun!  Look at those electricians working hard all day Saturday.  They got lunch out of the deal though and they weren’t complaining about that.

Then he trenched through the trees . . I’m guessing there’s a plan for something!  Who’d have thought this part of Texas would be so pretty!  I love these trees.

Then he trenched over to the implement shed.  See the open area in front and kinda to the right side there?  That’s where I think my garden is going to be.

The dirt here is so black and it looks very rich and fertile.  When Vince had dug a bit with a shovel, I kept commenting on how nice the soil looks and feels.  Vince figured the owners had brought in topsoil but he dug down 18″ or so and that good, black dirt goes all the way down that far.  I’m thinking I should have a fantastic garden here!
