Progress Report #6

The first thing on the sewing agenda for today was to fix the backwards half square triangle.  I sure dislike that kind of task!  Got it done and began working on borders.  Half the borders are done — 3 done and 3 to go so I should be able to get this top finished tomorrow.

Maybe by this time tomorrow night, this top will be loaded on the longarm!

Warning: Blog Construction

The web designer is scheduled to begin working on the blog tomorrow.  I have complete confidence in her work but because I so desperately do not know what I’m doing, there’s no telling what she will find when she gets into my mess so please be patient.  She will get it all straightened out . . bless her heart!  :)

The Beginnings of a Garden

You cannot imagine how excited I am at the possibility of having a garden here our first summer.  Our soil is rich and hardly needs any additives/supplements before we can plant and this area has probably never been planted before.

This is also an area of our place that I haven’t shown much before.  This is behind the shop/sewing room and towards the highway.

Vince is tilling around where the garden will be to make sure he isn’t going to run into any major rock formations.

Below you can see the shop/sewing room on the left and the implement shed on the right.  Vince has tilled up the perimeter and hit no rock!  That’s good!

In the photo below, over near where that blue bucket it located is where the RV hookup is.  In the front, left of this photo is about the spot where the chicken coop will be.  The chickens will be able to roam and have the cover of those trees for a bit of safety and they’ll be close to the garden so we can let them in there when we’re ready for them to hang out in there for a while.

Who would ever have thought we’d love living here so much?

Another Reason to Love Texas

Look at this picture . . specifically the sky!  No photoshopping . . straight out of the Sony Cyber-shot.

This was taken yesterday while Vince was filling some of the trenches.  February!  Short sleeves!  No jacket!  Need I say more?

The rest of the story is that even in MO, where it seems like we were always digging out of snow this time of year, I don’t think many snow shovels have seen much action.  Yep, I’ll be complaining about the heat in the summer but February has been gorgeous and if you look real closely, you’ll even see a bit of green . . something we haven’t seen much of around here.
