Progress Report #8

Who guessed I would get two blocks done today?

I sewed all day . . except for those few minutes I played on the computer.  OK . . maybe I wasted an hour or so on the computer.  Or, was it two hours?  I can’t remember.

Seriously, I did sew a lot.  I made all the components for all the blocks so tomorrow I should be able to get them all done.  Here’s how I set out all the components when I’m making blocks:

First, I’ll pick up the squares, and the blue/black segments.  I’ll go sew those pieces together, come back and press them and then get the next stack — the blue/black/red segments.

And, I might stop a time or two during the day to check email and Facebook!  :)

Texas on the Edge

You know how most fabrics have the little color dots on the selvage?  Well, look what’s on the selvage of the Deep in the Heart of Texas fabric from Moda!

No, not just plain Jane little dots.  It’s the great state of Texas!  I ask you — is your state on the selvage of fabric?  No??  Mine is!  :)   Isn’t that just the cutest thing.  I’ve been working with this fabric for 2 days now and fondling it for over a week and just now noticed that.

Garden Fencing Step 1

Saturday Vince called the lumber  yard and had them cut rebar and PVC pipe, which he went and picked up.

Vince is going to use the same kind of fencing that he used in MO and hope it works as well here as it did there.  First, he drives 5′ rebar pieces about a foot into the ground, then puts 10′ pieces of PVC pipe on top of the rebar.  Around the bottom, he puts metal chicken wire to keep the rabbits out and then he puts 10′ plastic fencing up.  The deer in MO never once tried to get in or jump over it.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed!
