Design Wall Monday – May 21, 2012

On my design wall are some log cabin blocks my aunt and I found while digging through boxes.

There are 24 blocks made and they’re going to finish at 9-1/2″ .. weird size, huh?  I’m thinking I might try to use 12 blocks in the center of two quilts and add other blocks and borders and make 2 QOVs.  We’ll see what I come up with.

What a great find! Sounds like you’ll have some fun coming up with the quilts to use them up.

That is a fun challenge you gave yourself to use up these blocks.

The log cabin block is one of my all-time favorites. It is so versatile – not only with block placement but with fabric placement, or off-setting the center just a tad, too. It’s always a great “go to” block for a Wow! factor.

How about setting the Log Cabins with alternate blocks — like Bear Paws or Ohio Stars?

Love the idea of these in the center the red/white of a QOV. Gonna look great!

Those are pretty reds! I’m sure your EQ play will be successful :)
