The Fall Garden

All my seeds are ready for the fall garden except the tomato seeds which should be here tomorrow, though I should have already had them planted in their little cups so I can transplant them in July.

I probably have way more seeds than I’ll need but most of these seeds are packaged for the 2013 growing season so what I don’t use this fall, I can use next year.

Things like lettuce . . we pick what we need each day and then replant it several times during the season.  The mesclun mix only takes 30 days to maturity and the lettuce takes 50.  I can plant those on August 1 and it should be at least 4 months til our first frost.

  • Lettuce (2)
  • Mesclun mix (4)
  • Arugula (2)
  • Kale (1) (definitely need another package of that!)
  • Cabbage (5) (they’re all different)
  • Zucchini (1)
  • Swiss Chard (1)
  • Kohlrabi (1)
  • Radicchio (1)
  • Carrots (2)
  • Mustard Greens (2)
  • Sweet Peas (7) (Can you tell these are my favorite?)
  • Spinach Devil . . do not ask me why when I type Devil I get a devil?  But there are six packs of spinach – another one we’ll harvest and replant as long as we can.
  • Lima Beans (2)
  • Green Beans (4)
  • Dragon Tongue Beans (2) (Don’t know anything about these)
  • Turnip (2)
  • Eggplant (1)
  • Cauliflower (2)
  • Beets (2)

Honey, we may need to expand the garden!  Smile

Additional Colors for Nicole’s Sofa Quilt

I could play on EQ all day but there are quilts to be made!  :)

Notice that in the second from the bottom, the inside of the “flower” is a colored with a colored fabric and not a background fabric.  So much possibility with this quilt.

Twitter and Facebook

How much do you use Twitter?  I’ve never quite figured it out I suppose.  I follow a few people and I love checking in on the ones that are active but I’ve never been very active.  Same with Facebook.  I get so frustrated with the games and signs people post on Facebook . . and the whining.  I wonder if folks who whine about every little thing on Facebook also whine as much in real life.  I hope not!

One of the questions I get over and over is “How do you get so much done?”  My answer is always the same . . I don’t think I do get so much done.  There’s always more left to get done at the end of the day.

Here’s my new plan . . and you know how my plans go . . they may change before dark.  I’m going to use Facebook like I’ve always used it.  If you’re my friend on FB, you won’t notice anything different.  I’m going to change the way I use Twitter.  For at least a couple of weeks, I’m going to try to tweet more about what I’m doing . . each step along the way.

So, if you really want to know what I do and how I spend my days, follow me on Twitter.  You can always “unfollow” me if you don’t like what you see.  I assure you . . my life is pretty boring but I’ll put at least the quilt related and garden related activities on Twitter and see how that goes.

All of my social media buttons are over on the left sidebar.

Stash Report – Week 25, 2012

The log cabin QOV top is finished and that took 7-1/2 yards.  The binding for it is made and that took 3/4 yard.  Nothing was added.

Used this Week: 8.25 yards
Used year to Date: 140 yards
Added this Week: 0 yards
Added Year to Date: 48.75 yards
Net Used for 2012: 91.25 yards

Next week will be Week 26 — the midway point in the year.  My goal is to use a net of 280 yards this year so I’d better get busy.  I have several tops to quilt and those backings get the “used” column numbers way up quickly so I need to start spending some quality time with the longarm!
