Decorating with the Aid of Chip It!

Decorating with the aid of Chip It! by Sherwin-Williams!

After moving into our little ranch house in December, we spent a couple of months getting unpacked (more or less) and then it was spring and time to start building chicken coops and planting gardens, so adding any touches to make the inside of our house our own just hasn’t happened yet.  When BlogHer mentioned the Chip It! promotion from Sherwin-Williams, I was happy to volunteer.

Have you ever heard of Chip It!?  I had not and I’ve been having so much fun with it.  I’ve “chipped” pictures of everything from brightly colored fish to rodeo clowns to wildflowers to chickens, and everything in between.

It’s so simple to use!  There’s a very short video that will explain it all!  You can get the Chip It! button just like the Pin It button for Pinterest. First you drag the Chip It! button below to your toolbar:

Chip It!

Whenever you spot a photo you like online,  just click the Chip It! button and then click the photo itself. And voila—you get the picture’s paint colors.  The “chipped” photos can be saved into folders that you create for easy access later.

With the help of Chip It!, we’re ready to get started with some painting and decorating.  We’re starting with the guest room.

No one will argue that this room needs help!  There are two angels over on that right wall…left by the former owners!  I should be embarrassed!

My first thought for inspiration was my beautiful chicken, Ruby, so I decided to use Chip It! on a photo of her.  See the picture below?  See how easy it is?  See how easy it will make the job of choosing colors to match those in a photo?   The palette can be printed and carried around to find matching items for the room.  Pretty simple and interesting, huh?

Because I so love green, another favorite photo is this one:

If you haven’t already jumped ahead and watched the Chip It! video and added the Chip It! button to your bookmarks bar, do it!  Even if you aren’t planning to repaint your rooms, I think you’ll have fun chipping pictures you like, and who knows…you might just run down to the local Sherwin-Williams store and buy some paint and come home and start a makeover of your home!

To encourage you to try it, you could win a prize! Chip my second inspiration image and guess which one I’m going to use. Your comment will be your entry for a chance to win a $1,000 Visa gift card and a $200 Sherwin-Williams gift card.
