Where’s the Rain?

How can the sky look like this . .

For hours . .

And yet never rain.

We so desperately need rain. Excuse the neglected feet with the toenail polish all worn off but that’s all I had handy to use for comparison for showing the crack in the ground.

These cracks are huge and they’re everywhere.  I keep squirting water down them . . don’t ask me why I do that but that’s why the grass is kinda green around the crack.  The garden is full of cracks  . . everything is full of cracks.  This is why I keep watering the foundation around the house — to hopefully keep the ground from cracking and shifting around the foundation.

I know there are lots of places around the country suffering from drought and crop failure and fires . . so many of us need rain . . where is the rain??

Quiltathon Preparations

With the Quiltathon starting Thursday, I’m making preparations and getting as much done as I can get done so I can sew, sew, sew on those four days.

I’ve gotten in the terrible habit of ironing one shirt each night for Vince to wear to work the next day.  The ironing board is in the sewing room, the washer/dryer out here isn’t hooked up so all the washing is done in the house.  I forget to bring the shirts over here and right before bed, I’m running over here to iron a shirt.  I brought a whole pile of them over here this morning and ironed shirts for all the way through next Tuesday.  No ironing during Quiltathon.

My menus are planned and they’re all easy stuff!

Thursday
Stuffed Peppers (from the freezer)
Corn on the Cob (cooked in the solar oven)
Salad
Caraway Crisps

Friday
Ribs (on the smoker)
Cowboy Beans
Mustard Greens (canned from my dad’s garden last year)
Texas Toast

Saturday
Steak (Grill)
Baked Potatoes (cooked in the solar oven)
Green Beans (canned from my garden)
Crusty Bread

Sunday
Spaghetti & Meatballs (sauce I canned and meatballs in the freezer)
Salad
Garlic Bread

Are you getting things done ahead of time so you can spend extra hours sewing?

Manor House Blocks All Done

Yesterday I finished the two remaining Manor House blocks and almost got one of the “Business District” buildings done.  The grapes and fruit trees needed watering again so . . that’s my job and the sewing can wait .. they cannot.

Today I hope to get at least half of the business district blocks done.

Look how cute my houses are.  Check out the chimneys. This one is gray brick.

This one is brown brick.

This one is red brick.  (And a lime green house!)

This one is stone.

How would you like to live in my neighborhood?  :)
