I may be working on projects other than what I had planned to be working on because a special little bundle arrived very early this morning! Meet Adalina Mae. Who would have thought my first grandbaby would be named after a George Strait song? Moms . . don’t listen to too much country music while your children are growing up . . they may name their babies after those songs!
This is the only picture they’ve sent me and . . well, at least it’s a good shot of her right foot! She weighed in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces so for Nicole’s size, she’s a big baby. She wasn’t due til August 15 and I had talked to them yesterday and Nicole was feeling fine. Chad said that about 11:30, she started having pains and he wanted to go to the hospital but Nicole said she thought it would stop. They finally went to the hospital about 1:30 and she was born a little after 4.
I do believe last night was the first time in my life that I haven’t had my cell phone under my pillow when I’m sleeping. That doesn’t mean I always hear it because I’m such a sound sleeper. Speck wasn’t feeling well and we were outside about 4:15 a.m. I walked in the house and I thought it was Vince’s cell phone ringing and I hollered to wake him up (like he had slept through Speck waking me up to take him out, me taking him out, the outside lights waking up Otis who crows non-stop from the minute he thinks he sees daylight, til about midnight). Vince said “It’s YOUR phone and you’ve already gotten a text. I’m sure it’s Sarah!” Sarah is my friend since first grade who likes to talk late at night.
I had to find my phone and when I looked at it, this is the picture I saw! I called Chad right back and got the scoop.
So, I’m officially a grandma and I must get a quilt or two quilted so I can make a trip to MO and take at least one baby quilt for the most beautiful and smartest grandbaby in the world!
