Congratulations Sharon and everyone else . . check out this month’s color palette and get a project done, ok?  I have my fabric pulled but haven’t started sewing yet.

Thanks so much to Vicki for sponsoring this challenge.

Saturday Sewing

What sewing?  There was hardly any.  This was one of those days that if anything could go wrong . . it did.

After cutting okra tonight, I came into the sewing room for the first time and cut the binding for Adelina’s two quilts, sewed the strips together and pressed them but didn’t put them on the quilts.

Chad  asked me to bring his baby quilt.  It’s a quilt that an elderly lady made when he was a baby.  I’m thinking I might not have even made him a baby quilt . . surely I did but I surely don’t remember it.  Maybe I didn’t.  Poor baby!  This is the quilt Mrs. Broussard made for him that he wants me to bring.

And, while we’re talking about babies . . how about another picture of her?  This was the day she was born and they were still in the hospital.

Chad was holding her and he thinks it’s so cute that she wants to hold his hand!   Here’s Chad’s baby picture that was taken when he was born.  Do you see any resemblance?

Chad was quit a bit smaller.  He weighed 6 pounds, 13 oz, and she weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces.  She was one inch longer than he was.  It’s hard to see from the pictures but in the ones I’ve seen with her eyes open, their eyes look similar, they have similarly shaped noses and top lips.  It’s hard to tell and I haven’t seen any of Nicole’s baby pictures.

I can hardly wait to see her!!

A Quiet, Peaceful Morning

What was so different about this morning from the other mornings?  Otis is gone!

Otis, the comical, goofy, noisy, mean rooster is gone!  Every morning when I’m out watering, Otis is chasing the hens, trying to do what roosters do, and he’s so much bigger than my two little hens, Louise and Tiffany.  He would grab their heads with his pointy beak and throw them to the ground, then he’d spit out a mouth full of feathers.  When he was done with the hens, he’d start chasing the other roosters, Roscoe and Thelma.  I know . . Thelma needs a name change.  I so didn’t want to get rid of Otis because he’s so entertaining.

But my sweet little hens were so scared of him.  Louise always had one eye on Otis and she would run as fast as she could from him but he’s so big and has those huge, feathery feet, and he always caught up to her.

Vince had been telling me that someone from work who has 6 full size hens and no rooster, that she would take Otis.  Yesterday morning I told Vince . . Otis really needs to go before he hurts Louise or Tiffany.  Did I mention that he never stops crowing?  Vince called shortly after getting to work to tell me they were coming at lunch to get Otis.

They did and Otis is gone.  He’ll have a good home with them . . they’re real sweet and gentle with him and they love their chickens.  Otis will have his work cut out for him with 6 full size hens.  And since they aren’t used to having a rooster around, Otis may get a taste of his own medicine and may find himself running from mean hens!

It’s so quiet outside.  The Dominique roosters crow occasionally but not non-stop.  Here’s the video of part of Vince catching Otis.  He did catch him and there were no injuries .. none to Vince or to Otis.
