September, 2012 Quiltathon Final Report

The Quiltathon weekend for September has just about finished up. Please share a link above to any projects you may have worked on during the four day Quiltathon. You’re welcome to make it a kind of summary if you wish.

Here’s what I got done:

The Deep in the Heart of Texas top was quilted and trimmed.  The binding is made but not yet attached.

Some of the blocks are completely made for the Sing a Happy Song quilt.  The remaining blocks have a good portion of them done.

After a long nap this afternoon, I’ll probably be sewing for a few hours but I’m switching over to piecing a backing and loading a top that I need to get quilted tomorrow.

The October Quiltathon will be:

October 4, 5, 6 and 7

That’s early in the month but it’s the only available weekend I have.  I’m working on another simple design to offer (It has 16″ blocks!”).  You’re welcome to work on your own projects or the pattern I provide.  Please try to join us then.

Quiltathon Sunday

9:15 a.m. and I’m in the sewing room.  We have leftover smoked salmon for lunch.

Vince makes the best smoked salmon.  He may keep me for my sweet potato pancakes but I’ll keep him for his smoked salmon.  It’s better than anything we have ever bought already smoked.  We have had good luck getting fresh salmon at Sam’s or HEB but since it’s over 100 miles to either of those places and last week I was begging for smoked salmon, Vince happened to be in Kroger and they were putting some out and he asked if it had ever been frozen and they said no, it was fresh.  He bought it and I do believe it was better than any we’ve had before.

So . . lunch will be smoked salmon and leftover broccoli/cheese soup.  Vince is grilling for dinner so I should get a whole day of sewing.  Let’s hope!

This evening I’ll put up a blog post with a link box where you can post a summary of your Quiltathon efforts.  Please be sure there’s a picture in the post related to what you’ve worked on because it will be a picture link box.

The dates for the October Quiltathon are October 4, 5, 6 and 7.

Stash Report – Week 37, 2012

Yay! Something to report! I used 4.75 yards for the backing for the Texas quilt. I had already counted the binding fabric so I don’t get to add that in again. Nothing added. It feels good to have something in the “used” column!

Used this Week: 4.75 yards
Used year to Date: 152 yards
Added this Week: 0 yards
Added Year to Date: 48.75 yards
Net Used for 2012: 103.25 yards

There’s 15 weeks left in the year. We can still make a lot of headway in our stashbusting efforts . . but will we?
