Two More Things

In addition to the other things we’re going to do here at Patchwork Times during 2013, I have two more ideas to keep you busy.

1.  A friend is a great designer and the other day she had a quilt pattern on something I saw and I loved it.  I asked if she would mind if we do it as a blog project and she was fine with that.  I’ll give you more info when my pattern arrives and I can take a picture of it and share the info. It’s a beautiful Christmas quilt and anyone wanting to participate will need to order a copy of the pattern directly from the designer.  I think you’ll just fall in love with it when you see it.  I’m so hoping my mail lady brings my copy today.

2.  A monthly gift link box.  Here we are just days before Christmas and some of us are attempting to finish up hand made gifts.  On the 25th of each month, we’ll have a link box and you can all try to get at least one item made per month and link up, showing us what you’ve made and giving us the pattern/design/link so that we can all make one too if we want.  Christmas, 2012 isn’t even here yet but it isn’t too early to start thinking about our gifts for 2013.  Really!

Margie’s Blocks Are Done

All the blocks are done!  I would be so thrilled to have these blocks all sewn together in rows, and the borders added by the end of this day.

Blocks for Margie’s Quilt

The Comfy Deer Blind

Yes, there’s a deer blind or two out in the woods.  No, Vince has not hunted out of them yet.  No, he had not hunted at all.  There’s only about two weeks left in hunting season.  Earlier this week, we had a discussion about the deer hunting.

Me:  Vince, are you going to get a deer this year?
Vince:  I don’t know.
Me:  Are you going to go hunting before the season is over?
Vince:  I took the carpet out of the blinds and need to get some new carpet cut for them.
Me:  Are you going to go hunting before the season is over?
Vince:  I don’t know!

Yesterday he decided to go hunting.  I wasn’t real sure what he was planning but I told him that I was going to the sewing room and I’d stay there til dark or til I heard a shot.  I had just started talking to my friend on the phone and I heard a shot so I went out and sure enough, he had a deer.  But, wait til you see where he was hunting.

The Front Porch Hunting Blind

He was on the front porch!  In a comfy chair!  With a bag of deer corn on top of a table for resting the rifle.  One of his “extra” table purchases was turned over in front of him so the deer wouldn’t see him.  Don’t laugh .. it worked and he wasn’t sitting there more than 10 minutes.

Just when I think living here can’t get any better .. there are places, but not many, where you can get deer and turkeys without ever getting off the front porch!
