Remember that I mentioned a cute Christmas quilt I had seen and wanted to do as a group project here at Patchwork Times? The pattern is Comfort & Joy by Silver Thimble Quilt Co. Several years ago I met Pat Wys, who is a wonderful designer and author. I asked her if she minds if we do this as a group project, if anyone wants to participate, and she’s happy we chose her design.
This quilt makes me smile! It’s busy and it’s happy and it’s Christmas! I’m sure that my applique will be done by machine and I’m thinking I’ll add an additional border or two to make mine larger. If made exactly by the pattern, the quilt measures 62″ x 76″. I’m also thinking that I’d like to make one for us and one for Chad and Nicole so that each year at Christmas, we’ll know that we’re sharing something the same, even though we’re miles apart.
On the 24th of each month, I’ll post which blocks I’m going to work on during the next month and there will be a link box for sharing your progress . . if anyone wants to do this with me.
The good thing about this is that we don’t have to buy a bunch of fabric to start with. We can work out of our stashes and buy more red, green, gold . . whatever . . as needed.
You will need the pattern which can be ordered from Pat’s website. The pattern is fantastic! It’s all printed on individual 8-1/2″ x 11″ paper — none of that aggravating fold out paper.
This afternoon, I’m going to go to the sewing room . . yes, I am going to get out of this recliner and do something . . and choose some fabrics. I’m getting started on this today and I might . . might . . do two of these at once.
Anyone want to join me on this project?
