Quiltathon Starts Tomorrow

Remember back when I made several meatloaves to put in the freezer?  One is out for tomorrow’s dinner.  Heat and eat means more sewing time.  Leftover chicken & pasta is on the menu for Friday and ground beef is thawing for a pot of chili for the weekend.  Have you done anything to make meals happen without taking away too much sewing time for the next four days?

My Quiltathon goals (and I don’t even hope to get them all done):

  • Bind Margie’s quilt
  • Load backing for three QOV quilts (I’m going to try to load one big backing for all three tops)
  • Get blocks done for Nicole’s New Beginnings top

There’s a new quilt I’ve been playing around with in EQ and I so want to work on that but I’m not going to let myself until at least the four things are done on my Get It Done list.

Anyone else have goals set for this Quiltathon weekend?

i just took a quilt off the machine last night ;o) super happy about that! it was a christmas mystery from dorothy young and so i am super duper happy that this is just waiting for the hand stitching of the binding now.

we are expecting a snow storm later tonight and a snow day from school tomorrow. i will let the kids play with their electronics all day if they let me play with mine LOL i have quite a few quilts that i want to get quilted this weekend, so i am with you, even starting early!

I want to keep going on the hexagon quilt. Which I switched to last week because I wanted to clean out a tub so I could show some progress! It ends up it needs more work than I thought so I will be working on finishing it to be a baby quilt.

OOOOOOO! Sounds like fun! If I go get busy right now, and take the quilt off the longarm, and put the next one on the longarm, then I can sew tomorrow while it is quilting. I have a plan… knitting may have to wait this evening.

Yes, I have been unpacking and cleaning and having Christmas for 2 1/2 months and I’m going to quilt this weekend. My quilt room is not set up, but I’ve got room to cut, I can set up the iron in another room and I can sew as my machine has been ready and waiting since Day 1 here. I don’t expect to finish anything, just to decide on which of my many quilts I want to start (I’m not finishing anything this weekend, I’m STARTING something.) I can’t wait, may even start on Friday.

almost finished a quilt today already. a QOV – the Scrap Basket Blues one. After that it’s onward to walking foot, sampler and those placemats, then work either on Arizona skies on Friday (before Open sew class in the evening) or that mini quilt.

Either way – my old standby on Friday evening – baked chicken, baked potatoes, and probably baked butternut squash – OR re-hydrated and cooked sweet corn. Thursday – probably pasta and cheese sauce and some sort of veggie. Saturday – I have NO idea what – probably baked fish, baked apples and whatever else I can think of! And that’s the menues for the weekend! (except Sunday which is leftovers anyway!)

oops – forgot – Saturday and Sunday – my goal is to quilt the couch quilt I made for my son and daughter in law’s wedding gift! Wish me luck on that – I’ll need it! And thank goodness it’s stippling!

Planning to make a bag and sew some quilt blocks.

I’d LOVE to finish my Easy Street and the first QOV (just needs a couple of borders) plus make progress on the 2nd QOV. Maybe work on another rag quilt that’s cut out and waiting. We’ll see how much of that happens. But I’ll only be sewing two of those days so that may be a little ambitious.

I have beef burrito filling along with some blacks beans all prepared for dinner on Thursday. Friday will be crockpot chicken and dumplings and salad. Today was my prep day for my sewing days, I cut ALL of the squares I need to make 456 flying geeses using my Elemnor Burns ruler.

Hurray! I’m excited about the quiltathon. :) My goal is to quilt my denim/flannel quilt. It’s already basted but needs quilted.

Planning to get the borders on Felicity’s dog quilt and get it quilted, bound and finished! Hope to get borders on my Nautical Star quilt, too.

All I have to do is defrost & microwave dinners. I’m doing scrappy mystery quilt off the Quilting board, so have to do this weeks clue. Have to finish the bargello borders on my Santa quilt that didn’t get finished for Christmas. Have one of the quilt learning panels 1/2 finished on the longarm, can finish that up & load one of several quilts that need quilting. That’s enough!

  13. 13

My goals for quiltathon finish a baby quilt I’ve been working this week and also an Easter wall hanging to finish as well.
For meals I’ve got stuffed peppers in the freezer, a hamburger casserole, some browned burger and a meatloaf ready in the freezer as well. It’s looking like a hamburger type of meals for the next few days…

  14. 14

probably on the road except for friday…if i don’t have to catch up on a lot of things, i intend to quilt one of my quilts in waiting and maybe make a small baby quilt if possible…

Tomorrow will be a handsewing day if I get to sew. Will be having a new hot water heater installed and it is in the attic ( walk in closet off the sewing room) I will stay out of everyone’s
way by working on mending a quilt for a friend.

  16. 16

No meatloaf here, but I’ll be working all day on my Flower Fairies, which is one of the projects for this month’s Get It Done!

  17. 17

I am going to try to finish my grandson’s quilt that I started over a month ago. It is tough working midnights and trying to sew but I am determined to sew at least 1 hour after I get home from work and 1 hour after I get up from my sleeping time. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I can do this!

  18. 18

will be working on my Easy Street quilt and hoping to get that top in one piece, which will probably take the first two of the quiltathon days. Next in line is to piece the backing for Easy Street, and last is to continue on with my String Bean quilt and get that top into one piece. that will fill out the remaining two days of the quiltathon.
As far as food prep goes, I’ve got an oven-roasted chicken, celery, onions, and carrot slices in the fridge to make a batch of Mexican Chicken Soup. Also have a pound of hamburger, a can of condensed mushroom soup, a packet of Lipton beef & onion soup mix, a dash of horseraddish, and a dollip of sour cream to make sloppy onion burgers. YUM! there’s a trip to the grocery store planned today to get some Hawaiian rolls to go with sliced ham for ham biscuits. i’ll also be making some creamy cheezy potato soup to go with those ham biscuits, and maybe a pan of brownies to get my chocolate fix. If I get all that made i should be well suplied for food this weekend.

The hubster has informed me that he needs a baby quilt for a gift – to be delivered this Friday ! My daughter has a swim meet Friday through Sunday – so I won’t be sewing in the quiltathon – but my fingers will be moving today to get that quilt finished !
