This morning I’ve finished framing the blocks for QOV #2.
The binding is sewn to Margie’s quilt and I’m working on finishing the edge now.

I finished the embroidery on Calico Friends from Fat Cat Patterns that I am doing for a friend’s first baby last night and am now working on sashing and borders, What a cute pattern for a newborn nursery!
I’m trying to get the borders on my Easy Street, and then it’s off to quilt a baby quilt!
Only thing I’ve done so far is look for a book and get soem guild stuff in order. sigh…..
Will do some hand applique this after noon, well that is the plan anyway.
Hugs!!!!
I’m very excited; this is my first quiltathon! It’s morning here on the west coast so off to work I go. After work I’m going over to a friends to quilt for 3-4 hours. I’ll be starting to sew my spider web blocks together!
First break – FINALLY finished pressing the QOV blocks – AND taking apart those that didn’t quite work right (WHY can’t I sew folded corners so the corners are STRAIGHT with the bottom part of the block!!!!!!) Also started trimming and “standardizing” the size of the blocks (was SUPPOSED to be 6.5″ for each quarter – I’m going with 6.25″ and hoping that works!) Taking a cottage cheese mid-morning break (may also snack on peanut butter filled apple too!) Wanting a caffeine fix as well – esp a hot mocha! which I am NOT going to have since I’m wired enough as it is!
Just got home from the boys play date, they are fed and off to nap time… then I get to start my Quilt-a-thon!! First off, finish piecing the hexagon quilt….
I’ve been doing some free-motion quilting. Making progress on this table topper and finishing up a project I’ll reveal tomorrow as part of the In Your Words blog hop.
I’ve made my list and started my first project.
Dinner is thawing in the sink. I love a good Quiltathon.
I finished a jelly fish paper piecing and am now starting on a crab.
Stop the presses!!! I actually made some progress on TWO quilts today!!!
Here is my quiltathon day so far… worked all day, got home, made supper, helped with homework, folded two loads of laundry! HA! Seriously, as soon as supper is over with and the dished washed I am piecing a back for a quilt I made last week-end. I am going to quilt the entire thing on my sewing machine tomorrow night and Saturday. Wish me luck, it’s my first time doing a project this big on my sewing machine!
Good luck on your BIG adventure on the sewing machine. I like your blog. Your quilts are so colorful. I see you just started. Good luck with it! I started over 18 months ago and never really got going, but I am now!
Plans changed due to a funeral Thursday AM and into the afternoon. Now I need to recover, but I have high hopes for Friday,
ARGH! I did one block this afternoon, and set up a second one….. no I didn’t get a lot done. I was at the hospital w BIL most of day so that;s my excuse…. maybe tomorrow will be more productive.
Didn’t do squat today cause I was gone all day! Hopefully will get something done tomorrow.
Didn’t get as far as I hoped – and could still do more – however – I DID press the QOV blocks, cut them (twice! First time not enough!) so that they would all be the same size. I will have to add an additional border – which is NOT thrilling me – but I think it will look nice – and actually with the border I have in mind I think it will make a big difference in the quilt.
Also on that quilt I not only got all blocks cut to size, I also managed to get quite a few sewn together into the bigger 12 inch blocks – and now you can really get a feel for the quilt!
This in addition to getting my car inspected (and eating lunch at McDonald’s!), listening to (and running out of) books on tape – heading to the library tonight and picking up more books on tape (I thought the one playable only on the TV was going to be at least 5 hours worht -= nyet! 45 minutes tops!) Now have 4-5 more books on tape (2 short – and one “the cat who…..” mystery as well as some of Elizabeth Adler mysteries. Now I’m tired and ready to quit for the evening!
I think you did a great job! Wow, car inspections, libraries, lunch out! Tomorrow will be better. I’ll be thinking of you while I’m sewing tomorrow!
I had such high hopes this morning since I was going to quilt with friends for 3-4 hours this afternoon. Then I got an email from my friend/hostess…cancelled! Boo hoo! At least I salvaged a little from the day. My husband was working until six and I got off at 3:30.
My goal is to get the spider web quilt blocks sewn together over the quiltathon. First step: iron all the blocks (again!), trim threads, cut off ears from blocks. Such a boring task, but has to be done. Finally got started on my blocks. I got 4 sewn together by the time my hubby got home. I can do some more when he goes to bed–early job. Looking forward to tonight and this weekend. I don’t know how to link yet, but the spider web quilt is from Bonnie Hunter’s free patterns listed on her blog. I want to give credit where credit is due!
I’m almost finished embellishing the top border. I have two more spaces to fill and then it’s on to the bottom one!
Four of our quilt members worked on our Quilts for Heroes and we actually made 4 of the 8 that we need in less than 4 hours. Awesome day visiting and sewing.
My first quiltathon! I worked evenings yesterday (Thursday), so I got a few scrappy trip along blocks going in the morning, put together two of them when I got home from work, and cut fabric for more. Today (Friday) I’m going to work on some BOMs that have been ignored for a little bit.
Finally got the last two borders on my QOV. It took forever because the weather has been beautiful so I have been out not in. Had two sets of blocks to set together and got one done the second one is layed out on the design wall to be sewn. today. The weather is turning freezing again to keep us in quilting (low teens, ugh!!)
Have six or eight other projects to finish in the stack of TO DO’s.
Last night I pushed it and finished the East Street by Bonnie Hunter. STill needs pressing, trimming and borders. But the piecing is done and I promised the house today is it’s turn.
I finished Easy Street piecing and will take today to catch up on other things
