Did anyone notice that I’ve had a crazy day? What is it about the Quiltathon that causes me to get nothing accomplished? I sit in my sewing room and sew non-stop . . until a scheduled Quiltathon.
I had talked to a lady earlier in the week who was looking for a longarm and I told her she could come by and play on my Millennium. She lives a couple of hours away and called this morning to tell me they would be passing by here about 1. I had already told my neighbor I’d go to the youth fair with her to look at all the judged goodies. Then I realized . . what if the folks coming to look at the longarm want to go to the restroom? That means I needed to do some super quick cleaning in the house. So, I cleaned house, I went to the youth fair, I showed the lady how the longarm works and then I decided I needed a few things from Kroger so I ran back to town.
Our high today was near 75º so I worked in the garden a bit — dug some carrots and beets, cut some mustard greens for us and cut some with freeze damage for the chickens. Tomorrow or high will be in the low 50′s and then the nights are dipping back into the 20′s.
There’s never that much activity going on around here. I’m going to sew more after dinner.
Please . . someone tell me that you’re getting a lot done!

Just got home from work – so no.. not YET!
I finished the first border on the hexagon quilt! That’s more than I have done on it in 2 years… but I need to add at least another border in order to make it a baby quilt,. Hopefully I will get that done tonight, still, and then get it ready to quilt tomorrow!
LOL – I would LOVE to say that – had plans to go to Open Sew tonight after spending all day sewing. Was going to work on Arizona Skies and the mini Twister quilt.
!
No!
I could NOT get to sleep last night (knew I was teaching today instead and while I enjoy REALLY teaching – I do NOT enjoy babysitting! Esp. in a classroom! so – my frustration kept me awake until maybe 2 AM – and I woke up at 4 then 430 then finally got up at 530 so that I could get ready to teach! Still was plannning on going to Open Sew tonight.
No!
Too tired. Want to sleep. I start stirring my cheese sauce and start to fall asleep. I’m not safe to be driving around ANYWHERE! So – I called in and said no and sorry – and ate. Now going to bed! G’nite! (It is 629 PM LOL)
Well I got some sorting done of blocks so they are together in baggies for sewing. BUT found out that I’m short 128 sewn squares and another 16 cut squares. sigh…. I need to read better. So tomorrow will try and cut them all but glad I got done as much as I did.
Hugs!!!!
your day sounds just like mine! it was cut, sort, and bag the parts of a quilt for me today. When i wasn’t doing that i was doing laundry or making soup! hope to get some sewing time in today.
Hey Judy!
I got a bunch of sewing done yesterday, I made almost 200 flying geese. Did some marking today then got my house and laundry done. On Saturday I will be back to the remaining 356 geese and I hope to get them done by the end of the weekend! My husband wants to update a computer so that should keep him out of my hair!
I got a whole quilt cut out for Myrtle Beach Quilt Party that starts next Thurs. I miss getting sewing done, but needed to do this prep. Frustrating! Micki
I finished a little wall-hanging, Bloom late last night and worked on a binding for a table topper today. Some really cold weather and high winds are rolling into the area, so I also made a grocery run, so that I’ll have no need to leave my warm house this weekend and can do some quilting.
Ooops. Let me try that link again, Bloom where you are planted.
I did manage to get 1 block put together, for a BOM. Not really happy with the result, but I’ve unsewed enough seams and it will have to do. Hoping to do a bit more tonight, and then lots over the weekend.
Not hardly! No sewing today but a lot of cooking which I did manage to post about. Maybe this weekend I’ll get in that sewing room…sigh!
I babysat for 3 hours, and finished the top border while I did that. So that’s kinda quiltathon. =)
No, not much at all. Just 4 QOV blocks for #2. Started to cut borders for #1 but had to leave and never got it done. Tomorrow maybe?
WasSewing what is that? Yesterday was a 6 hour installation ofa hot water heater. We put the last one but knew codes has changed . Today Tilly had an appt. to get her teeth cleaned. Vet was not happy with the blood work, no cleaning , pills for 30 days see what happens after that. Came home from picking her up and the load of wood chips/mulch was here to be dropped off! That was supposed to arrive this afternoon, maybe! Still had more errands to run-dog food, fed ex what ever . When we did get home finally Galen started getting the wood chips to the back mulch beds so I started spreading what he was dumping. Dad was here for dinner-need i say more? Did the package arrive?….
Not me! I spent part of the morning at the health food store. Then I cooked lunch and cleaned the house a bit. Then I worked on my online class. Then I started dinner… lol. Dinner is in the oven and I’m hoping to FINALLY get to some sewing after that.
I hope you have a quiet day tomorrow with lots of quilting!
I’m so happy that I’m not the only one who has to settle in to quilt. My biggest distraction is ME! I make free time to quilt then spend half the time toodling. Last night I was thinking about it, because I frustrate myself. Decided to cut down on the blogs I follow–a necessary evil if I want to quilt. I am also giving myself a time limit on how much time on the computer each day; I’m using a count-up timer. That should cut down on the Maj-Jongg games!
Helen, I had a sleepless night. I, too, teach. When I got home it was straight to bed for a nap. Feel better now and am sewing together columns on my SpiderWeb–I’m very happy because it is so close! Sophie, loved your quilt, Bloom, the colors are great and the sentiment is spot on.
Back to sewing. Thank goodness my hubby is a wonderful understanding guy and I get to quilt all day tomorrow if I want to!
Nope… nothing… zip… nada. Stepson came by for breakfast. Took my pug to the vet this morning. Went out to lunch with DH and then to Walmart for groceries. Came home and it was raining so hard that I didn’t want to venture out to the studio. Actually, an excuse to stay close to my pug. She has a spinal problem in her neck and I’m very concerned about her. So, no challenge sewing.
Had really good intnetions, BUT– again life got in the way. Oh well maybe tomorrow as its supposed to get really cold again. That is when I can get a few things done. I HOPE!!
I quilted! I finished a baby quilt and a doll quilt and cut fabric for three skirts for my girls.
Tomorrow, after a boring meeting, I hope to work on the January step of your mystery quilt and maybe sew some pink scraps. (Unless, and this would be even better, I go into labor and have a baby tomorrow! I’m three days overdue and it’s hard to sit up to the sewing machine!)
I got a lot done at work today. When I got home I worked on Easy Street, the Quiltville mystery. Progress is slow, but at least there’s progress! My only plans this weekend are making a spinach recipe and Easy Street.
Haha almost fell off my chair, quilting I wish. Hehe . Just got home from work after 12 hours, you know the drive, work, lunch, work, drive home.
Planning to fix a couple of thread nests on A quilt, I quilted last night, also pluck dust/lint out off it too! Some how they found their way onto the backing. Note to self vacuum lint, don’t blow with air can. And find a less linty thread!!!
Last night: pieced quilt back, pinned quilt for quilting, threaded and set up sewing machine to quilt. (No actual sewing, but moving in the right direction!)
This morning: two hour fog delay at school, went ahead and got up at normal time and was quilting the quilt in the peace and quiet. Then the boys got up.Ugh.
This evening:Ordered out pizza even though we are on an eating out ban in our house. Got some pizza, started to quilt, then a friend stopped over. She just left. It’s after 10 and I am tired!
After, hopefully, a quick trip to the grocery store, I am back at it!
I’ve gotten a WHOLE lot done today. Six blocks for my Lego quilt…four little Scrappy Trips blocks…some progress on the latest baby quilt….
Now I’m going to try to tackle a thumb gusset before bed!
Well, now I don’t feel so bad about getting nothing accomplished in my studio! I’m not alone!! Thursday I had to take hubby to work because his truck wouldn;t start, but now I won’t see him again til Feb 3rd. Stopped at Home Depot to exchange a light ficture for over my longarm (does that count?) & return some parts I told him we didn’t need & got the new faucet set for the kitchen & stain for the dining room table. Came home, started staining & ran out. Back to Home Depot! Got that project done & laundry started to catch up from the holidays. Yesterday was just as bad. Got 3 coats of polyurethane on the table, laundry & started Spring cleaning the house for the addition of 3 more people to live here. They’ll be here on 2/6. Again, never went to the studio! Need to get this weeks clue done on the mystery quilt because the final clue is today! But I need to go to the flea market to acquire more chairs for the dining room & bunkbeds for the kids! Then change out faucets. I’ll get there studio! I hear you calling!!
Day 1 I finished my rubber ducky baby quilt! Day 2 I did
more quilting on the peek a boo bunny wall hanging. Hoping to finish the quilting on that today and make the binding. We’ll see hubby is home…
