Bread Three Ways

At least twice a week, I make whole wheat or white bread.  This morning we had one loaf of wheat bread left but I wanted white bread for a tuna salad sandwich for lunch tomorrow.  My favorite white bread recipe makes two loaves and with one loaf of wheat bread still here, I didn’t want to make two loaves of white bread.  I whacked off one piece of the dough, probably less than 1/4th of it, and set that aside to make fry bread.  I divided the rest of the dough in half, made one loaf of white bread and one batch of cinnamon rolls.

Bread Dough – Three Ways

The bread got baked.  I love the Norpro baking pans.  I have a long one and a medium one.  I used the medium one, though the loaf isn’t nearly as short and fat as it looks in the picture.  See . . all my pictures are kinda weird like that.  I’m betting you thought Vince and I were on the short and heavy side too . . but now you know . . it’s just my camera!  :)   Or, maybe it’s the bread that makes us look short and fluffy!  :)

The cinnamon rolls were baked and iced.  My neighbor has the flu so I divided the batch in half and they got half.  I’ll share a whole lot of stuff but cinnamon rolls . . I had to think about that for a while.

Cinnamon Rolls

For an afternoon snack, we had fried bread dough.

And that’s a saucer . . not a big plate!

It’s nice to make one batch of bread dough and get bread, cinnamon rolls and fried bread from it.

Yum! Next time I need to get adventurous and make something besides a loaf with half of the dough. :-)

Would you be willing to share your recipe for white bread ? I like making bread but have not been able to find a recipe that could become my “favorite” yet…and, I have never had fried bread so I would looove to try that!

How do you do the fried bread? Do you just eat it that way? I have seen fried bread that is made from quick dough, but not yeast unless it is doughnuts.

I swear I gain weight just looking at your pictures… of course the bread is balanced out by the veggies….My husband doesn’t eat bread and might eat one cinnamon roll so I don’t dare….

That looks so-o-o good; I can’t wait until I have an oven again!

I need to bake white bread tomorrow. Each batch is 2 loaves, a bit under 1# each. It is always sourdough. Haven’t bought bread in years….love it!!!

What is fried bread? I’m sure it’s calorie free so I’d love to try it. Hot bread of any kind is my weakness….makes me fluffy too. (lol)

I love to bake bread, even more so now that I just bought a Kitchen Aid mixer with a dough hook. I bake 2 loaves of bread every 4 or 5 days — if my 17 year old grandson comes over on baking day, half a loaf disappears very quickly!

You’re so sweet for sharing with your neighbor. My kids are lucky I share with them in the rare times I do make cinnamon rolls. Forget about the neighbors.

And later, when I can’t stay out of the cinnamon rolls that I have to make today, I’ll blame you. :)

Youe fried dough made me yearn for my late mother in law’s homemade pizzas. She used fried dough for them with homemade tomato sauce and just grated parmesan cheese on top. So simple…so good.

Yep another question….how do you cook fry bread? I’ve never heard of it before. Do you just eat it plain or what?

Do you ever make beignets with your fried bread?

LOL – good homemade bread is worth a little extra fluff. Makes the stuff from the store taste like cardboard.
