Here’s where we link up with our February goals and report on how we did with our January goals. I’ll do my full report later . . January isn’t over yet, you know!
If you haven’t done your blog post yet, when you write it, or else leave a comment here, I’d like to know if you think you got more done in January by having made your list. If you didn’t meet all your goals, remember that they were just goals and don’t beat yourself up over it. I find that for myself, it works better if I make the goals a bit more difficult and that helps keep me from slacking. And, if you didn’t meet your goals, or if you did . . there are sill 11 months left in 2013 so we still have time to get a whole lot done!

(1) I’m still slogging away on th e Plus Signs quilt top (made with 2-inch squares). I expect to put border(s) on it in February.
(2) Put binding on children’s Twinkler quilt.
(3) FMQ the Autumn Leaves top.
(4) Sew two aprons and two walker caddies for friends.
(5) If I still have breath left, then onward to FMQ a Trip Around the World.
“Get It Done” is helping me to get some long neglected projects completed. These projects are things that I have pushed into the back of the drawer or put on the top shelf and they will usually only take a few hours to finish. A few will be slowly worked on each month, something that I don’t enjoy doing and will hopefully finally have finished by the end of the year! Having these goals makes it easier to work them into my quilting time. Thanks Judy, for the kick in pants I was needing to get these projects finished.
I don’t have my February goals set out. yet, but I did write a recap of January. It’s clear why I didn’t meet my goals this month — I spent the month reading!
I worked on three of the four projects listed. I think I like this goal setting just for the camaraderie if for nothing else! I like seeing what you are all working on!
I like the Get It Done report. I use it to set a goal for what I want to get finished and then break that list down into smaller doable pieces for each week. For February I need to: (1) get my grandbaby-to-be’s top done and to the quilter, (2) finish two more blocks on a never-ending hand quilting project, (3) stabilize my son’s art quilt, (4) do my challenge postcard due March 1st, and (5) get my garden seeds so I can start them March 1st.
I am trying to create a new blog for my posts but until I figure out what the heck I’m doing, I’ll post here.
As far as January goes, I did as follows:
#1. Finished all 3 blocks that were mentioned!
#2. I did begin Danielle’s Wacky Web blocks just to try the pattern out. Needs lots of New Orleans Saints Gold prints though. Bought a few fat eights and quarters and used some of my stash scraps but will need lots more for variety. Anyone want to contribute! lol So this will be a month to month add on!
#3 I am still searching the bzillion embroidery files I have to the 2 I need to put Taylors Music Quilt together, but am cleaning 2 external hard drives while looking. (I was a WM for and emb site and large month hunt so I have duplicate, triplicate files etc…so hard going to find the “Rock Star” and Electric Guitar that I want to use in it…all the rest of the blocks were done in an 18 month swap.
#4…Dana’s Round Robin quilt,,,,didn’t even get to but I did think of a lot of 4 patch squares I have and will find them and beging adding another round to make it a larger quilt than the Round Robin rounds.
So all in all, for me that was pretty good since I didn’t even post until mid-January! lol
So, for February…will continue with:
#1 Have to make 3 different blocks for different swaps or BOM’s I’m doing.
#2 Continue looking for embroidery files.
#3 Continue with Danielle’s Wacky Web
#4 Get started on Dana’s Round Robin.
A lot of these are long time goals but if I can do something each month, they will eventually get finished. ‘I am terrible at procrastinating; been in swaps since 2006 and I have so many quilts in bags, boxes etc that could be great quilts. I refuse to count them! lol
Oh and I finished a knitted shawl that I thought would whip my hinny! Make several scarves and looking to learn to make socks when I can get things together.
Hugs,
Cajun
Heck yes! It helps a ton! I would be so lost without my lists. They keep me focused…when I can find them!
Thanks so much!
I didn’t participate in January as I had a baby, but having my February list ready means I’ve already finished a goal or two! I love checking off items on a list, and having the list helps me stay focused. Already, I’ve thought of a few more things I should have put on the list! Next time!
My goals for February are as follows (these are not in order of importance):
(1) Prepare patterns for class
(2) Blue Medallion Quilt – finish the top
(3) Complete the three UFO baby Quilts (need quilting and binding)
(4) Yvette’s Lapquilt – get all the pieces cut and assemble the top
(5) Curtis’ Lapquilt – get all the pieces cut and assemble the top
(6) Back to Square One Mystery Quilt – complete all February tasks
(7) Make one Veteran’s Quilt (start to finish) using an unfamiliar block.
(8) Complete Quilting on Americana Quilt; bind
(9) Complete 2 sets of February tasks for Quilt-A-Long.
Didn’t do too bad this month. Made 2 pillowcases and one quilt for Moss House, got one Christmas quilt almost done, made one mondo Bag, and made Easy Street for a friend.
Now for February: Make Mondo Bag for daughter, finish Christmas quilt, ,finish quilt for granson’s Christmas and make more sets of potholders for birthday gifts for church members. and make one more quilt for Moss House. Only thing is that February is short a few days!
I didn’t have a list, but for the first time I looked, really looked at the UFOs. I got 3 done that had been just sitting there with almost nothing left to do, just because I’d really looked at them.
My blogsite is set up, but I can’t seem to get it to you. We’re working on it. Briefly I am helping my grandaughter with an “Underground Railroad” quilt square this month that will be put together with other while they study this unit. I have so wanted her to sew, but nothing worked. Now, I have her, a machine, a project and we are ready to sew–yah. I have new “tools” just orderedd and am anxious to start cutting tomorrow. Top of the list is a purple quilt, again for my GD and a William Morris I have had ready to go for ME for a couple of years. The Lorax is promised for another grandchild and lastly, the family wants a huge sports themed quilt for cold hockey rinks. I’m on my way, unkept quilting room and all.
January was a good month for me with 9 UFOs checked off my list. 7 of 10 goals done and partial on the 8th – I’ll take it!
January was a complete bust for me. Had the flu the first week and have not gotten strength back until the last few days. Had a horrible cold/cough for almost 3 weeks, Oh my it feels good to feel better.
I did keep up with a round robin, did a challenge quilt top, a block for a swap and cut fabric for a project that was for a scheduled workshop last week. Didn’t get to the workshop so now have a project ready to sew. Just hope Febr is better. Its 5° right now and going down. Wind chill is -15°–brrrrrr.
I made little to no progress this month. But I feel I got my mojo back, and having this link-up is helpful for keeping me accountable!
I loved this format. I put the items on a large post it and posted that list on the all above my ironing board. It was wonderful to refer to!
Sorry I took two posts. Hope that’s OK.
I really like the new List format for this link-up! I found that it really helped me stay focused on my goals and I never once walked into my studio and said, “Okay, what do I work on today?” LOL!!! It works better than the UFO report for me, because I like to have different projects going at one time so I don’t get bogged down on one project.
I read about your challenge from Susan’s blog at Desertskyquilts.wordpress.com and thought this was a great idea. I have been overwhelmed with my projects and the best way for me to not be overwhelmed is to just focus on a few at a time and work on those. I work better with deadlines and I think this challenge is just what I need. Thanks for hosting this. Here are the 4 projects I’ve decided on for this month.
1. Bind my Thimbleberries Garden quilt 2. Quilt and bind the Christmas Star Tablerunner 3. Quilt and bind the Brown Bow Tie Quilt 4. . Quilt and bind the Red Scrap Quilt. I hope I get more done but these are the ones I’m focusing on to finish. Thanks, Linda
February is a very busy month for me. I will be traveling for ten days and have a rental turning over so I will need to give valuable time to taking care of some maintenance.
I am really enjoying the get it done. Helps with staying on task as the craziness of everyday life floods my time and energy. Accomplished my January goals an awesome sense of satisfaction.
February Goals:
1-Complete next set of Block Exchange blocks (15 blks)
2-Plan baby quilt, purchase and cut fabric.
3-Make friendship block for a friend who has moved.
4-Since traveling I will take my knitting- work on wingspan scarf.
5-Figure out a blog. Hoping I will have time while away to sit down and figure out how to set up and use the blog.
Love the goals. Felt soooooooooo good to check off each of my January items.
