Dinner Tonight

Around Chrismas when hams and turkeys were on sale, we bought several and have had them in the freezer.  I’m trying to empty out a freezer because our pig will be ready in the next few weeks.  Yesterday I took a ham out of the freezer.  It was fully cooked already but we decided to stick it in the smoker for a while, just for some good smokey flavor.

Smoked Ham

Not only is the ham really good, but now I have a smokey bone that I can use for beans or soup.  Yum!

Dinner

Ham, Pinto Beans, Risotto and Pretzel Rolls.  The salads were already on the table, so at least we ate something green.

Pretzel rolls? Sounds yummy! Did you make them?
    Do tell.

We had pinto beans tonight too, but no delicious ham, boo hoo.
    That looks yummy.

Looks yummy! We had pot roast with onion/mushroom gravy, salad, green lima beand, rice and gravy. Dessert was Meyer Lemon Tart. Thanks for the yummy recipe and the help with the lemon size. I had to use two of mine to get the right weight!

Judy, you are going to have a lot of leftover ham meals as well. At least it will keep well. Good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And the bone for great soups! I would use the bone to cook great, yummy pinto beans. I always cook beans from scratch.

Have to tell you I just bought a new Lodge 12″ frying pan. Have to season it. I have cooked with an antique, burnt stuff on the sides that I could never get rid of. I am going to give a new one a chance. Just have to season it to get it going. Have read several methods and watched You tubes. What is your method.

    Hugs,

That’s why we buy so many hams when they’re on sale — to have leftovers. We take the meat off the bone and vacuum seal it. I got four packs of ham slices and one one, as well as two dinners from that ham.

Honest. The beans count as a veggie even if they aren’t green!
