This was maybe my best week ever and I’ll probably never have another one like it. I used:
- 13 yards for the backing for three QOVs
- 15 yards for Nicole’s top. EQ says 17 yards but I think it was closer to 15 yards, even though I wasted a bit of fabric.
My total usage for the week is 28 yards! Nothing added.
Used this Week: 28 yards
Used year to Date: 56.25 yards
Added this Week: 0 yards
Added Year to Date: 0 yards
Net Used for 2013: 56.25 yards

Wow! Great week!
Judy- You still amaze me with how much you get done and so graciously too. Jane
Judy – that is absolutely great! (Now if the Good Fairy would come over and smack me upside the head, maybe I wouldn’t be so far behind – AND in the hole to the tune of 30 yards!)
Nothing like some backings to bring up our total fabric usage. But you haven’t added any yet this year either. Way to go Judy!
Congratulations! That is amazing. It sounds like it might become a personal best, but you just never know…
Congratulations! That’s a lot to use in one week.
A great week indeed – congrats on all the stash usage!
For future reference, EQ calculates each piece as though it were being cut from a square. For example, say two hald-square triangles finishing 3″ are required. EQ calculates that as two squares cut at approximately 4″. Most of us would not cut one triangle from a square, and throw the other triangle away! So, bear that in mind when using EQ to calculate yardage. A good average is to reduce by 25%, and you will still have more fabric than necessary . . . ask me how I know!!!!
I find EQ7 to be quite accurate. For instance, I’m working on a quilt now and the EQ fabric requirements call for 5/8 yard. I used exactly 21″. That’s a pretty accurate requirement and the pieces I was cutting were not squares.
