When Chad was living at home, there was always a contest to see who would “claim” a new quilt first. If Chad saw it first and liked it, he would claim it as his own. If Vince saw it first and liked it, he would claim it. Then there were a few quilts, I couldn’t talk either one of them into taking off my hands! 🙂
How sweet is it that Nicole is now staking her claim to some of my quilts. She saw the “Sunshine” quilt on the blog and this is a screen shot of our recent texts. I guess there was no way Chad or Vince would claim that one with all the yellow and pink!
This afternoon I’ll do a little tweaking and then maybe tomorrow I can finish the Chevron quilt and pull some fabrics to make the Sunshine quilt! It would be funny if the last quilt I quilted on my old Millennium was for Nicole and the first one I quilt on my new machine would be for Nicole. I have no idea when the new machine will be here. I wrote APQS this morning and their response was “if all goes as planned, it will should ship on Friday” so hopefully that means I’ll get it next week but that’s no guarantee I’ll get it set up next week. It will come on a big truck and getting an 18 wheeler down our driveway is another issue but not something we can’t solve! 🙂

Can be in the family and start claiming quilts? lol

just curious – doesn’t apqs come and set up the machine and frame for you?

I love that she is so comfortable with you that she can ask for it! My sisters, nieces and nephews always “claim” quilts when they come to visit. If it isn’t already being made for someone I write down that it’s for the one who claimed it and then when it gets done (NEVER on a schedule) they have to come visit again to get it… :o)

Darn, she beat me to it!! lol … mmmm wondering how you and Vince might feel abut a long distance surrogate daughter? Just askin’ 😀

That’s so nice that you are getting your NEW APQS. I’m still dreaming of one. I have a DIL who is getting one of my McCall’s Contest Quilts re-made since she is having a girl. This could have been your Good News Posting today too. Gotta love the DIL!

I love the idea that Nicole’s quilts would be first and last. Or last and first. What a great MIL you are.

Nicole is right…it is a happy quilt. It’s wonderful to make something for someone who appreciates it!

It DOES look like a happy quilt! I think you and Nicole are both fortunate to have each other. Sounds like you have a nice relationship. Love that!
