Last night Vince went to bed before midnight. I was staying up til at least 11 p.m. so I could see Eat, Sleep, Knit‘s new Yarnathon. Vince said “Won’t it still be online in the morning?” Yes! But I have to see it as soon as they post it. I knew as soon as they posted it, all the projects I could make would be racing through my head and I’d have a hard time getting to sleep and that’s exactly what happened. I went to bed about 1 a.m., with the iPad . . planning and scheming.
If you’re a knitter and have never participated in the Yarnathon at ESK, head on over there and check it out. It’s quite fun.
One thing I was happy to see . . one of the knit alongs for the first quarter is something by Melanie Berg.
I have 10 of her patterns in my library. I have yarn for several but we have to use ESK yarn. The yarn I have for The Miller’s Daughter didn’t come from ESK. The yarn for The Joker and the Thief . . I think one yellow didn’t come from ESK. We get an extra star if we use 3 or more colors and more stars for using over 800 yards. I’m leaning towards Ashburn or Tamdou. Since both are three color shawls and both seem to work well with yarns that don’t necessarily match perfectly, I think I’ll use this combo:
I struggle with using those multi colored yarns. I would do so much better with all solids or tone on tones . . just like my taste in fabric. Look at Boots sitting there. He’s just waiting for an opportunity to grab a skein of yarn and take off with it.
After getting out about 50 skeins, I think I might be leaning more towards this combo.
Or, maybe I’ll swap out that middle one for a more solid.
Obviously, I don’t have a clue what I’m going to use!

In the past I haven’t participated in much of the ESK yarnathon events (other than purchasing yarn) 🙂 because I didn’t want to make the KAL items but this year they are more enticing. Melanie Berg – love her patterns so I decided to start with the first one and see how many I do. I’m making You’e Beautiful in some yarn purchased from ESK back in 2013 – time it became a project.

Aww…that picture with Boots in it looks like you’re teasing him with the yarn!

I am a Taffy giraffe. I was Starsheep last year but wasn’t as active as I would have liked. I can’t decide which Melanie Berg patterns I want to do.
